Mornings!
Overnight rain kept waking me up, so meh this morning - as is the weather. The storm has ripped down one of the branches from the rose by the door So that's my job for this morning sorted.... when the rain stops.
Very late start to the day, but never mind. We've pretty well sorted out our rainwater collection system. Odd thing to talk about at 4.00 am but very useful. Dogs thought we were a bit odd, walking round in the pitch black wearing head torches and wielding measuring sticks.
A bit of hazy cloud in the sky this morning but should stay dry. Paid work on the cards for the rest of the day, with an early finish to get some baking done. Looking forward to that. Cornish fairings, jam tarts and a lemon and almond polenta cake planned (I try to make the most of when the oven is on and the cake will go in the freezer).
MORNING ALL,better day so far, this sun certainly does for peeps eh,hopefully last leg of the top coat today, then remove door furniture to paint them,a much easier job with a little roller, recon my body and brain are on auto, coffee brakes included, gota catch up with washing, got fairy tomoz, remember to Bgood2yrselfs.

Late check in , so good day all.
Had an early start but home now.
Beautiful sunny day and very little breeze, feeling autumnal.
Had to see the nurse earlier and while I was there she gave me the flu jab.
Just wondering g am I the first to have it this year?
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

Afternoon, it's finally stopped raining here just emptied 2inch of water from a trug into a watering can that was from yesterday No wonder the gardens soggy.
Good afternoon finished up rather busy yesterday due to heavy rain and flooding, was taking a grandson to music lessons but was stopped by a torrential water flow over the road, a pipe that takes a small burn under the road had got blocked and it overflowed though it had burst its banks further upstream and came raging down through gardens and unfortunately my sons house though it wasn't at floor level, my daughter, who was on her way home, got held up by the water and she thought it was a burst water pipe as she works only 4 miles away where there was no rain whatsoever. Today I have been lifting flooring in my sons house to check for water but fortunately it has all soaked away though there is a damp covering of mud over the solumn, so he now has a couple of dehumidifiers going to dry it out, his back garden is a disaster area with everything washed to the sides and a pile of gravel which he had spent a bit of time raking up is now again spread all over the garden, ah well the exercise will do him good. Right need to go and feed the boys, it must be hungry work sitting in school all day

Afternoon,i could do with the rant thread,to cut a story short, son is down casualty, seems he cut is leg with a spesial wood cutting blade in a disk cutter, aprox 4in long and deep enough to want internal stitches,in a lot of pain, been tolled not to move the leg,not to eat,and is awaiting an exray,i think they might put him to sleep for a clean and repair, the hospital would not tell me anything, and got him to ring me,he does not want me to go down yet,i feel better having spoken to him personaly,ti's aparrently on the front leg just above the kneecap, could have been so much worse,i know a lot of blokes seem to do this trick, have got the downstairs room ready for him to come home for a bit, blady ofsprings, they always a worry, especially this one,Rary your family WAS lucky, can they claim the cost of the dihmid from the insurance.

Terrible tale, LD. That's a sympathy like from me. I hope he makes a quick and full recovery. I hate power tools. The potential damage is enormous.
And Rary, that's another sympathy like from me. Horrible job ahead by the sound of it.
Meanwhile, our builder has been with a lorry load of gravel and sand. So the garage and the barn roof are definitely going to happen. And I've booked him to finish off the rest of the house next year. Brilliant! I think he's quite keen on the idea of building a stone arch for us. He's a good stonecutter, but I've warned him it'll depend on cost. A new stone arch is a pricey thing...
Hope your son is okay lottie! My mum used to say you never stop worrying about your kids it’s just different worries!!
Rary, sorry to hear about your sons house, hope it’s dries out ok.
Isn't that the truth Jay and then you worry even more about your grandkids.
You seem to see more danger as you get older.
Sorry about your son Lotty and your flooding disaster Rary.
Well, we have had such a hectic afternoon.
I was asked to look after my grandson for the afternoon, last minute arrangement.
Said grandson is now 15 months and a little live wire.
For some unknown reason some family members also decided to visit this afternoon.
They have only just gone and I am shattered.
The holiday now seems like a distant memory.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

So many truths mentioned in earlier posts today, we worry about our children and get more anxious about the grandchildren, however we must remember that our children will learn just the same as we had to, and thinking back I must have worried my mother something terrible, though of course I was the perfect child (that's before VC says anything)
Lotty my sons problem is just material, important to him but still material, I do pray that everything will come OK for your son. That's all the serious mentioned, two of my grandsons are going to help make a garden out the back, I will be the gaffer, the will be the workforce I have asked both of them what they want to grow, veg or flowers and both picked flowers, so I will let them pick the flowers and they can try any thing they want as long as they are dahlias, or possibly cauliflower I wonder if I can get them to weed my garden and power wash my patio well take care enjoy your gardening and smile. Goodnight
