  • Morning, wall to wall sunshine and that fierce north wind has dropped, so off into the hills looking for Red Deer with the camera after dropping SWMBO off in Montrose, glad I got the grass cut yesterday now.

    • Good morning all.

      Have a good day all.l
Jay, I hope all is ok with you as I havnt seen you on here all the week,

          * tiptoes quietly so as not to disturb Flo

Much less clog dancing going on in the roof space last night ..thank goodness!

OH has an appointment today just around the corner from our nearest Ikea ....guess who has offered to be dropped off for an hour or so?
I know...I've got too much on to 'waste' half a day but I'm sure only good can come from it

The donated plants for the seed and plant swap have turned out to be in much better shape than I was expecting, so I'm really chuffed with those! Aren't some peeps really kind?

Rary....have to ask...do you have cake at these coffee mornings you go to?...if so, what's your favourite?
I managed to find some Parkin when we were in the uk...Greggs used to make a fantastic one but they stopped making them a few years ago and I can never make them quite as nice. Popped it in the freezer for bonfire night!
Parkin is a traditional northern treacle/ginger/oatmeal cake ...do you have anything similar in Scotland?

And now my stomach is rumbling!
          Right...kettle's on....help yourselves

          • Morning, Nicos. Morning, everyone.

Got a massively busy day ahead. Plenty of work to get through and I've got a long list of jobs to do and food to cook for Mr Snoop, as I'm back to the UK for two weeks first thing tomorrow morning. Can't imagine all this food will get cooked, but never mind. I can but try. Cake is a low priority... For me anyway, if not for him.

Hope you all have a good one. Catch you later. Hope you're doing OK, Jay and Carieann.

Raining again here, Mollycat got the hump when I opened the door, she swore under her breath and went back upstairs lol.
I'm going to rearrange the furniture so that I can get at the last wall, which is for wallpapering over the weekend. Can't wait to get it finished and done with. Then I can tryout my new toy, a carpet shampooer, at last..
              Have a good'un !

My Gran used to make large biscuits (as opposed to cake) which we called parkins. Like large versions of ginger nut/snap biscuits. Very very yummie

Of course there is cake and scones etc. why do you think I go it has been going for over 25yearsand n fleece he past everything was home baked but sadly there is less and less of that, but my favourite is one my OH makes, not sure what she calls it and I am not allowed in the kitchen when she is making it but I think she uses crushed ginger nut, and some time its crushed digestive biscuits, condensed milk (though that could be for the caramel tarts that she also makes) and white chocolate, any extras go to the grandchildren, so the only way I can get some is at the coffee morning where she can't always count how much I eat of it

                      • Evening all.

managed a goodly spell at the plot today but apart from harvesting tomatoes and onions, it was very much end of season tidying up on the agenda. The weather was grand if a bit breezy but we are well into October so very grateful to get such a nice day.

Had a look at my diary this morning and notice that I planted my exhibition pickling shallots on the 23rd of October last year. Where did the year go?

                        • Good evening, a bit of shopping this morning then as it was dry I decided to do some strimming to get a bit of field ready for the boys fortunately I got a fair bit done before rain started and managed to get everything put past just before the heavens opened up and it has been on and off since the next part s to let the boy's burn the ground then we will dig part of it, hopefully get that done next week, as there are one or two things that need to be done, and while sitting here I can see a lovely full moon so off to watch for someone flying past it

Bit early I know but I too have another crazily busy day ahead!(never a chance to get bored here!!!!!)
Snoop...hope you managed to get most of the food prep sorted. And I hope all goes well for you in the UK.
The year has indeed flown by AP...I was thinking the very same thing. Hardly seems more than a few weeks since I was harvesting last year's hazelnuts. Got to do them again very soon as OH needs to cut the lawn.
Yesterday's trip to IKEA went well. Got my big candles and also some cushions to make covers for to sell.
Called in at a huuuuge megastore a bit like Homebase and actually found flooring for our lounge. And it was on offer! It means we have to order and collect it before we need it but hey....it was exactly what we were looking for, and reduced! (thought rary might be impressed with that)
Also managed to get most of my posters and flyers handed out and hope to get that finished today. One week to go!
8cubic metres of firewood is being delivered today. No chance of finding time (or energy') to stack that, so we'll be putting a tarp over that for now.
OHs burpday tomorrow , and I was hoping to make him a cake. What's the saying?...The way to a man's heart is through his stomach? Better try and bake one then!

Your OHs cake sounds interesting rary. No chance of sharing her recipe, or a link to something similar?

So... I'm listening to a couple of owls hooting away-lovely!, and the 7am bells are about to chime..best get a wiggle on , fix a brew and let Hibou out (she sat starting at me in the deep , soul searching , telepathic way that only cats can manage!!!)

See you later peeps. Enjoy your day.
                            Safe trip Snoop.

Grey and raining again, looked at the forecast and it shows the same all week - not what I wanted to see Fed up with it now *sulk*
Twitchy legs all night, so a take it easy day for me - obvs been doing too much lately.

I might make the quince jelly, 'cos they've been on the worktop muttering at me all week I can peel them sitting down, so that won't hurt..... and I've always a book to read.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you're up to
