The apple trees was purchased at Morrison's but don't know the variety nor root stock though I have had them for several years and are only 5ft. tall I have been growing them in pots made from a 45gallon drums which I halved, drilled 6 drainage holes round the side 1inch from the bottom I remove a couple of inches of soil every 2 years (I use a 50/50 mix of soil and compost) some time the compost is from my hanging baskets the soil helps hold moisture, I have decided to put them into air pots to allow the roots get more room

Morning all. What a difference a day makes - it's bright blue out there and no wind at the moment. Though it's due to get quite windy later on.
Builder hasn't shown so far today and unlikely to turn up now... No point whinging over what I can't change. But Mr Snoop and I are inwardly fuming. Sorry for bringing the minor rant thread over here!
On with the show. Have a lovely day everyone, whatever your weather and whatever you're up to.

Good morning all.
We are still having the sunshine.
Off out for a day trip shortly.
Have a good one whatever you're up to.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I will look around the garden centre and see what I can find.
I have 4 half barrels and would to grow apples in them.

Mornin n'alln'all
Today I shall mostly be sewing again.
Well done with your fishing yesterday Burnie -enjoy your supper tonight!
Snoop...We have a little wren which lives in our ivy which faces the 'modern end' of our house( 1790) it builds a nest every year just outside the study window . Since we put a window box on the windowsill it lands on there before finally flying into the ivy. Always so lovely to see.

Lovely to see you Jay
We are having extremes of weather here today. Dry and sunny and still, then blustery winds with bouncy rain...back to blue sky...even Hibou has given up and curled up on the sofa.
Even so...the lawn is still growing

^Absolutely. I missed the last big downpour here (I was back in the UK), but when it rained a bit the other day, I went and stood outside. We're forecast a bit more next week, but as the temperatures are also due to drop, I think I'll stay indoors this time.
We need absolutely loads, as well. Not as bad as those poor Australians, but it's been a difficult few years recently. Several years of drought with one flood year and now another couple of years of drought. Could do without the flood, mind.
