            • The latest GoT episode. I can’t see much. You’d think with a multi squilliins pound budget they could have done better.

                  • Mr Snoop had the rotavator out yesterday, but it stopped working after two seconds. Turns out a plastic bit inside the handle that controls the throttle is cracked. For now, he's glued it together. Waiting to see if it holds.

Searching around on the web shows this to be a common fault with this Mantis tiller. And they don't sell the part anymore (you used to be able to buy the whole handle) as they've changed the handle design since I bought it (can't help but wonder why).

Not too pleased. I've had it three years, but it got no use whatsoever last year and not a huge amount in previous years. Probably used for less than 30 hours all told. It's never been used for breaking new ground (always after a tractor has ploughed and graded). And it's not been out in the sun either. Mr Snoop is going to try and fabricate a replacement part out of wood, of all things. Hope he succeeds because otherwise that would be a very expensive 30 hours of tilling!

Edited to add: Thinking about it further, I think this was a Friday afternoon machine. Either that or it got dropped before I received it. On delivery, it had a cracked engine cover and had to have a replacement. Maybe it got damaged then. Also, Mr Snoop has fabricated a repair out of bent wire. So at least it's going. Which is a relief.

                    • I'm having a right grump this morning...

Selective adherence to the DPA. Headaches , Wheelie bins, Biros that don't work, a pharmacy with no antibiotics in stock and everyone needing to make things adversarial.

I'm not keen on today, think I'll go back to bed for an hour then try again.

                      • Another nail in the coffin

                        RANT ON
Went to Morrisons and decided to get some petrol and check my tyre pressures.
Had to queue for the usual long time in order to put the petrol in myself.
On paying, another queue, I found out that the "free air" tokens had been discontinued. You now have to pay 20p, not a lot but as stated another nail in the coffin.
Also they could only be bothered to provide one compressor so the poor bloke behind me had to wait a long time.
I suggest the term "service station" no longer applies, should be "rip-off station" or similar.

There are two words that will be the end of civilisation, they are "MAXIMISE PROFIT".

                        RANT OFF

Sledgehammers cure most things with the added benifit that you get a new item.

That's EXACTLY what Neil said too! He watched it on Monday night once he got in from work (we record it on the Sky box at 2am on Monday morning) and afterwards said he felt like cancelling Sky as the picture quality was so bad! Then on Tuesday he'd been talking to some folks at work and they'd had the same issue on their tv too. He said it was something to do with the format/width it was filmed in having to be compressed or something? I don't know......I was banished off to the bedroom with the cats and my book so he could watch it in peace

I hope it's better quality this coming Monday.....I couldn't stand having to listen to him ranting on again like a grizzly with toothache!
