  • Seeing the first pods on my alderman peas.

    • Black kite, surprisingly low overhead. Great sight.

I'll feel a bit more confident about identifying them without needing my book now... Anyway, not normal to see them this time of year, so perhaps I will have forgotten what they look like by the time the usual season for them here comes around again. I'm terrible at bird spotting.

              • Finding a dried leaf, shaped like a W on the kitchen floor.
I held it on my upper lip (as one does with a curiously shaped leaf) and it was just like Hercule Poirot's moustache.

                • Taking some charlottes into work for people to help themselves. I've enjoyed growing them, and I love their quality, but I'm a garden geek, so I expect to be happy about it.

Seeing colleagues astounded at the quality and delighted and excited to be taking them home made me joyful all over again.

                  • Celebrating my grandsons first birthday this evening,
                    A lovely, happy occasion.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                    • In my mums garden there’s an apple tree that’s leaning over a lot, nearly laying down at the bottom of the garden about 7 foot from the pond, the apples are close to the ground,I was pruning it about a week ago & thinning the apples & I noticed something had been eating the apples a bit & I wondered was it the moorhens there’s two young ones & an adult. Now I’ve started creeping out there & nearly every time I’m out there, far away on the drive,I see one running from the tree to the pond to hide it’s so cute,I should mention mum doesn’t mind there’s so many apples & she loves the moorhens probably more than the apples

Just realised I've left the washing out but don't care!!!

                          • Yesterday spent ages watching a large blue dragon fly strafing the pond and fighting off all-comers.
Today, lying in bed listening to the rain.
Now, sunshine, so off to pick a cuc. and lettuce for lunch- I might even find a radish or beetroot out there.

                                I must be mellowing.
