It’s RAINING !!!!! The first for over three weeks.

Proper rain! Although the odd showers we've had have been appreciated we have actually got proper rain today. (maybe even thunderstorms later. Hopefully I should get a decent amount into the water butts and I'm sure my plants will be sighing in appreciation.

It’s stopped raining

Picking and successfully shelling peas and within the hour make pea risotto with some of them. Scrummy!

Watching the under 14 girls team playing Hurley (from the warmth and safety of my back room.) Absolutely bucketing it down ( I admit it, I am mean, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves if the screams and shouting are anything to judge!)

Now the match is over and the sun is out... so I am going out into my garden. Only sound out there now are the birds. (regularly getting a lesser woodpecker over the last week. Another thing to smile about.)

Didn't think the melons were doing well at all but I must admit I've been spending the minimum time possible in the greenhouse while it's been hot but today I spotted one hiding that's already tennis ball size.
I also picked the very first pea pod.
