19 Gardening Goals/Challenges for 2019

Does anyone want to join me in setting themselves 19 Gardening Goals or Challenges for 2019?
Make up your own Goals/Challenges, List them on here and report back on how successful you've been at the end of the year.?

I haven't thought of 19 yet but they'll include -

Not buying any F1 seeds
Growing more flowers
Sowing seeds every week
Keeping a jar of flowers on the kitchen windowsill
Eating something from the garden (fresh or preserved) every day
Growing Chillies from seed for the first time, ever!
Trying to grow Aubergines
Trying to grow Melons
Testing old seeds for germination and chucking the duds
Filling gaps in edible hedge
Growing more herbs from seeds and cuttings
Drinking herb tea
Picking crops when small, not waiting to see how big they can grow (and rot)
Not buy any plastic pots, modules, seed trays or labels.
Write up Diary daily and record spend on gardening stuff and what's picked

and so on............

I'm intrigued to know what the other 13 challenges are going to be

I only have one gardening related challenge this year. To have the tidiest, weed free and most productive veggie garden.

I could do 1 + 9 = 10. Would that do?

Sow seeds on time.
Plant out seedlings on time.
Get to grips finally with growing carrots and beetroot.
Tie tomatoes in on time.
Pick courgettes on time
Ditto aubergines.
Deal with pests on brassicas early on.
Keep beds under cultivation with crops or flowers, herbs, green manure, spinach.
Grow some decent herbs (and use them).
Use up gluts somehow or another (store, freeze, bottle, give away).

I'm sure you will be able and willing to find at least 19 nutty ideas/challenges in 2019 VC .

I think my challenges would be...
1. Practice my succession sowing
2. Pay more attention to when and where to sow stuff
3. Improve my veg for winter (it is usually winter by the time I remember I should've sown some!)
4. Try out module sowing beetroot a'la Charles Dowding with three or four seeds in each module
5. Plant out and pot on seedlings on time.
6. Sow more seeds and reduce the amount of old seed in my box (good excuse to buy more!)
7. Learn more about no dig as I go along

Best advice I have is to use a "Tree Planting Spade" if going into a stony ground . I even needed a crow bar to move the odd stone to allow full spade depth. We were planting a long hedge and took over 2 days. I did try a Digging spade and an "Irish Spade" - Egg Spoon shape. Neither worked

I think my challenges would be...
4. Try out module sowing beetroot a'la Charles Dowding with three or four seeds in each module

I put 2 to 3 beetroot seeds in a module depending on the seed size, the type from Aldi I think where there are 40 to the tray and end up with about 100 planted out. The root system that develops seems very poor but the edible root grows just fine and 1 planting does for beetroot really for the year. I get a lot less losses through slug damage.

I'll think about challenges but the main one will be to equal the crops I grew last year with all the sun we had (that must be 20). The onions were a bit on the small side due to lack of water so can improve there and the raspberry crop was negligible again I put that down to not watering at all. I'll probably try some quinoa again as have finished the last of what I grew 3 years ago - if the bit I've saved germinates.
