The jist as I read it:-

The letter is to let you know old Pam has gone. If you would like old Pams hat with the flowers and blue coat (one moth hole in the sleeve) let the funeral directors know and Jan (I think it is Jan) will post it on. Jan was 91 on christmas day. She hopes you are well and still in England and not Sweden her phone number is...

Thank you, I will give them a ring tomorrow. How sweet Pam was a customer of mine up until a couple of years ago.

A good idea to make the phone call Sarriss, like Thelma I think VC got it right and irispective what it is, he wants to give you a gift to remember them by.

And now I need to go and have a serious talk with myself as this is the third or fourth time I have thought VC is correct

My only differing from VC is I think it's Old John... It has a similar tail off to the word gorn and van.

Cad that 1% still means she is wrong in quite a lot

The only time I've ever been wrong is when I used to think you were young, rary..

Thank you all - I didn't get the chance to ring them today, but I will ring in the morning. I will carefully avoid asking for a specific person when I ring them because I'm looking at the letter and trying to see the names you've suggested, but I just can't make it out haha

I think VC is closest. Very good interpretation of what I guess is a Cornish accent, as the phone number is I think, Penzance.

I agree it's Tom, not Jan or John. A "J" would have the tail looped back up over the stem and the crossbar looped down over the stem...
