  • Paper catalogues

Its that time of year again when you can hardly open your front door for all the seed catalogues that come through the letterbox every day.
What are peoples thoughts On these? I never look at them, feel like I never signed up for them, and feel bad putting them unopened (once Ive discarded the plastic wrapper!) into the recycling bin. Im by no means an eco warrior, but isnt it time we ditched the paper catalogue? Or at least had to opt in if we want to receive it?

I have a little look in some of them, but they all go in the recycling box, which gets taken up to the allotment and composted. I often help myself to my neighbours' recycling too lol

I agree, bario, too many and I don't look at them either.
There does seem to be a move away from plastic packaging though with the address printed on the catalogue.
DTBrown's is printed on non-shiny paper so that one is shredded and goes in the compost - the rest into recycling.

When you order on line they've got your address so maybe that why they appear on the doorstep, I pass mine on to a neighbour who doesn't use the internet so he's always happy to read them.

I like paper catalogues. I like to be able to browse through and flick backwards and forwards, marking entries that take my fancy and comparing information about each one. Although I order online, I hate having to scroll up and down and click through the pages just to browse, and forgetting the pages where I was interested. It seems a lot more bother than sitting in an easy chair with a cup of tea and the catalogue on my knee.

I like to flick through...like real books, but never order these days.
Mine end up in recycling too.

Interesting responses, so far it seems that less people use them than discard them, and even those that browse them go on to order online.

                    I've written to T&M, let's see if i get a response.

I like paper catalogues - I can read them on the tube. You can't do that with an internet one.

I tend to order over the phone

I looooooove them. I read them like other people read coffee table books or magazines. There's always one in the car, one in the downstairs loo, one in the bathroom.... I read everything, even about things I don't grow, and I learn lots.

I always order online, but I find it easier to think and absorb reading the paper catalogue.

Then they go in the recycling.

                          Me too!
I love digital, order online, etc but things don't sink in unless I have the copy in my hand.

Also same as Mothhawk, I like to circle stuff I'm interested in and then go back and for cross checking them until I've found the one I really want - very enjoyable with a glass of wine ( not coffee ) in hand

My two penneth. There are a lot of people who DON'T order online so its wrong to rule them out.

To me its a bit like normal books which I enjoy reading, but I'm not so keen on reading kindle books.

I must admit though that after browsing through catalogues and finding summat...I order it online.

I never get any and would love to have them to browse through.
