I'm not sure if it was that one or an older one, but remember that I used an old book I had read when I was a boy as a reference , you will know the one I mean the one you wrote "Fifty Years of Gardening"

I’ve been watching the Victorian Vegetable thing again.
Besides becoming a bit fixated on the accents I so want a cucumber glass thingy to make sure my Q’s are straight. No luck with the South American river site so now off in my dress, pony tail and occasionally shouting cluck cluck (if only I had chickens) to have a go at actually growing a cucumber.
Does anyone think Crystal Lemon (this years failures of choice) will work?

Growing a straight Crystal lemon may be a challenge too far, Lumpy.

Did I mention that I had a stilted conversation with my next door but one neighbour Pauline? She was asking when HER toms would be available but really didn’t follow the Latin.
Good tip about broad beans and earwigs though.
Off to decide whether the end of my tiny garden could cope with a chicken or two. Names already decided Korma and Tikka.
              Ha ha

Silly sausage GL that’s the leg of my terribly conventional bloomers.
Now where can I get weights to hang off my trees?

I've got a box of Leo peas on my worktop in the kitchen, having just sowed the second batch of pea shoots this year. Given three weeks, you have a little mini forest in the kitchen that snips easily for quick salads

This thread has been a hoot reading through
I actually quite like Alys Fowler (but can understand the criticism).
Again, I like Carol Klein - she's got an accent, so have I (despite living outside Scotland for more than half my life), it's no big problem for me.
Monty Don - hmm, yes he's a likeable chap, however I suppose it's 'Gardeners World' I've got a problem with. Too much focus on specialised subjects, no real depth though when it comes to gardening,
It's all a bit of a 'fluff piece', concentrating on trying to get the perfect shot of Monty's dogs rather than focussing on the garden.
It's like watching Jamie Oliver, when it comes to cooking - sham and style over substance.
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

I like Alys Fowler she made gardening seem doable without needing a lot of space, her garden is a normal sized one that most of us have. Also as a bonus she has a cute looking dog.
                        Location....East Midlands.
