Pond liner glue, I’ve used Bostic pro on a Butyl liner and it has held.

Roitlet - thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind if I can't get to a pond shop. As it's for a wildlife pond, I'd rather use an approved wildlife-friendly glue if I can.

pond is being annoying, after two days of the level dropping, it hasn't yet. so unless we get nocturnal elephant visits, I am mildly flummoxed.

on the plus side, looking at the pond by torchlight revealed frogs and newts.
