weed-suppressant fabric + woodchip or woochip alone?

    Sorry Balders, another vote for direct onto soil. From a friends plot I gleaned a load of part-rotted woodchip that had been laid on suppressant fabric. The barrier was thick underneath with slugs and their eggs while directly above it was full of earthworms unable to go down into the soil.

      ok - I think I see who has won the argument... I guess suppressant has worked for me at the plot because it doesn't matter aaesthetically and it gets lifted up at the start of the season and relaid over winter - so theres not too much build up of slugs etc underneath.
