Sowing round in circles

I read a useful tip about sowing seeds outdoors, when you don't want 100s of seedlings and don't want/need a dedicated seedbed.

Find a circular pot or bucket and use the rim to mark out a circle in the soil. Rotate the pot several times to create a furrow.

Sow your seeds into the furrow-circle and put a seed label in the centre.

Wait for your seeds to grow and thin/plant out or do whatever takes your fancy with them.

For the random gardener, who can't abide straight lines this could be ideal. A bed of lots of little circles of different plants.

I like that Idea for flower seeds in the front garden

I think it would work for me on the bare patches in the various beds. Usually, I just scatter some seeds there, but I'm never sure whether what comes up, is what I sowed or a weed. If it was in a circle, it would be more obvious.

I grew parsnips in ever decreasing circles,(four I think?) starting at one metre diameter and finishing at bucket diameter, does that count?

Dunno, but I had to use a half-moon hoe to weed them!

This would be a good way to sow the nursery bed for brassicas as a beds width of sprouts seedlings is far more than I need but a pots circumference should be enough till I transplant them to their final home

Is this instead of using seed trays and pricking out to their eventual growing bed?

Its for whatever you want it to be.
Some seeds are better started in trays than open ground, others don't care. If I sow a circle of seeds it will be to leave them to grow to maturity in that circle.
