barely anything in my house is new, and as for the garden, I use those coffee tins (like azera); they make great cane toppers, and the rubbery plastic lids are good for using as cane 'ties' (make holes in the lid and slot your cane ends through). I use little fromage frais pots for starting seedlings in.
I also have an old cupboard in the garden, I bought it from a charity shop and it spent a few years in my kitchen before I moved it out to the garden (took the doors off and stripped it and painted it in cuprinol), now it houses little pots of herbs, a tray of sweet peas....and a wooden duck.
elsewhere, my strawberry bed is made of the wood from an old garden swing bench
I re-use empty pop bottles as cloches
And I'm thinking of making my son's teddy bear rocking crib into a veg trug type planter thingy. Although I can't help feeling it might be better if some other kiddie had it to enjoy!
