What to plant to stop the midge

Was in the garden after tea, but had to go in the house earlier than I wanted as the midges were quite bad I had a T shirt on which was a mistake,(no long selves) they have been steadily getting worse each night and though I have a bottle of skin so soft I don't want to use it just now as the bottle is about empty and sadly they no longer make the correct type, but watching GW this evening there was a mention of Mexican flea bane, and as I think that there were more midges about the area where I have raspberries growing, so was wondering if you have any recommendations of plants to grow to combat the midge

Mexican Fleabane seems to be Erigeron Karvinskianus which I know as Spanish daisy
Lots of it growing in my front garden in the paving joints. Does it keep away the midges? I've no idea as I don't spend my evenings sitting in the front garden.

Pennyroyal is a low growing slowly spreading mint which is supposed to keep midges away.

Does it work? Don't know, the midges aren't in the same place as the mint

Try Smidge spray Rary I find it as good as the old SSS when I'm fishing or the less healthy option of smoking a pipe...………..

You could try planting Dittany in places that the midges are the worst.. Don't think that it will repel the midges but on the off chance of it spontaneously bursting into flames you'll get the little beggars in a fireball.

The locals here crush Rosemary and sprinkle it on the tables if there is a midge/mosquito problem

They might be hanging round the area where the raspberries are because it might be a bit more shaded or damp? If you plant something there they might move just slightly to the right? It might be good to have repelling plants dotted throughout like basil,lavender & everything? They don’t like citrus oils there’s a tip about rubbing lemon/orange peel on your skin I’ve never tried it though.

It's nice to be loved - but not by a midge Sadly for me, midges adore me and I am allergic to their bites.
I've had a couple of black eyes from bites in my time. Not nice. I stay away from the west Highlands, highland Perthshire etc between June and October because I can't go out. Last time I visited Ullapool I had to buy a net that covered me to my waist and had long sleeves. You know I'm serious here.....

I've never heard of any plant that would dissuade midges, just a stiff breeze, full sunlight or a midge mangler. The only non-chemical anti bite cream that I have found to work is this one Wee Myrtle Lotion | Dekassa Wee Midgie and Wee Myrtle Range. I bought it at Gardening Scotland a couple of years ago and would swear by it. It really works and is non toxic.

Unless your garden is full of nothing but anti midge plants I really don’t think it’s going to work very well. Think you’re better off going with one of the many creams / sprays on the market ( personally I find smidge works best ) or a net.

Celebrity chefs might try and make some new sensation, personally looking at that pile I'd use them as compost enricher.
