There seem to be loads of insects of all sorts about this year - has a major pesticide been banned? I put traps out for wasps round fruit and this year I've had to empty them and reset them after just a few days. They do contain a lot of wasps but masses of flies and moths. Butterflies are everywhere, red admirals were feasting on the remnants of plums left by the wasps. And the swallows in the old coal-shed are on their 3rd brood so they are seeing the same.
