The big chestnut tree behind our house has the leaves yellowing these past two weeks.
This is the earliest this has ever occurred and I have been looking at this tree for over 50 years.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I take cues from my own trees. I have a couple of dozen fruit trees and a small number of unusual varieties seem to have an uncanny tendency to be able to forecast the weather.

Additionally, I've had solar panels on my roof for many years. Surprisingly, from 1st January to 31st December every year the total amount of power generated falls within a narrow range. I always thought weather was random but my solar panels suggest that weather mean-reverts.

The lowest annual generation was 3.3MWh, the highest was 3.5MWh with a mean of 3.4MWh and std.dev of 0.1MWh.
This year the generation is on track for 3.7MWh, which would be 3 std.dev from the mean, implying a once-in-a-century amount of sunshine.......unless the autumn-winter mean reverts.

Every previous time it looked like we would have a +3sd year, autumn-winter turned out duller and cooler than usual. In years with a disappointing spring-summer we always had a nice autumn.

I also have solar panels on my roof and the payments I have received sofar this year are the highest I have had in 9 years and expect the next payment to be back to the normal as the weather is back to normal, as for the trees, the rowan tree that I have in my garden, has produced more berries earlier than usual so will see what happens weather wise, though it could be because it was a lot warmer and started earlier than usual
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Not as scientific as you guys, especially you, FB. But Mr Snoop and I were commenting this morning that our best producing almond tree is looking very autumnal already. It's used to the weather conditions and should still have access to a lot of underground water. Very odd. I wouldn't mind a cool autumn starting right now, to be honest.
