Hi there, just got back from a trip to the UK and spotted this thread.
Hope your FIL makes a speedy recovery.
One piece of advice I can offer ( having lost two 90+ yr old close relatives in the last couple of years..and one very frail one with very active cancer still living at home) is that if he is as indépendant as my relatives then do make a point of suggesting that these adjustments to the home are temporary until he is back to coping properly again.
Psychologically , it's a goal to improve as well as being less of a perceived 'insult' by publicly pointing out any 'inadequacies'
Speedy recovery nick...Just tell him he didn't need to go to such extreme measures to get out of washing up over the festive period!!!
