Do the leeks from the base cuttings grow as big as the original ones VC? though it doesn't really matter, I think that's a great idea and would like to know how often the same base can be used

You can also do it with "spring" onions".

Today, I exposed my Babington's!!
Its Shoots week so it was a good time to see how big Babington Island will be this year (don't ask!)
For those who haven't a clue, Babington leeks are perennial by nature and I'm trying to grow a big clump of them. To date, I haven't eaten any, so don't ask what they taste like, either. Jay-ell says they're similar to Elephant garlic leaves.
A few of them emerging
A flower head with bulbils that I overlooked, and they're all sprouting. Sorry its blurred, I was excited.
A few plants from last year's bulbils...........
...........that need planting out.
