Mulberry Bush Ad ++

I'm away on a training course this week - a rare thing - just logged in to the Vine from a well known so called premier hotel chain - anyhow - this means I don't have access to other computers to check but I think I've worked out why the Mulberry Bush advert is the one that I've found most 'offensive' on this site. No doubt its not the advert itself but the way its delivered.... (which is likely to continue)
The ads at the 'bottom' of the page have always been the most annoying (IMHO)
This (new?) delievery method means that your mouse pointer can be quite a long way from the ad itself and still result in a 'click'
I'm waiting for the hotel wifi to let me complete the download of a graphics program so I can take a screenshot of what I mean - but essentially on this macbook air if I click even about a centimetre 'above the ad' in the textbox it will still register as a click on the advert and take me to suttons marvellous offer.

it could be a thing specific to Mac's running firefox browser (which is a fairly unusual combination - but if its a more generic thing then its very very unethical (IMNSHO)

- spoke too soon - it looks like my ad blocking works on two ads "aboe' the mulberry one but somehow turn the space that would have been occupied by them as extra estate for the mulberry

perhaps I should buy one

It’s not just you baldy. I have that ad come up more regularly than I care to mention.
As I’m on a table I have to expand the screen to click in a very small correct location ( which isn’t on the X) to close the ****** thing.
No I don’t use ad blocker.

Yeah that advert is the only one that annoys me. I find the ones on the sides not offensive at all, but livens up the page. And I click into them too when they're interesting.

But the one at the bottom.. every darn time I make a post it pops up and takes me to a new tab.

Yes, GYO is obviously getting paid per click (and we can't easily avoid clicking) so it suits them to ignore our complaints about the ad. Grrrrr!
Small pumpkin - lucky you if you've found a way to close it, I can't on my laptop. Even trying to start this sentence resulted in the expletive of your choice ad opening again.

If you put the tip of your "pointy finger" on the exact centre of the X it will close but if your pointy finger is slightly off-centre you can't.
I doubt that its possible to be that precise on a small screen with a wayward pointer.

We've already asked Admin if they can review the ad, but as yet have not had a positive response.
Not much more we can do other than keep pestering them

Thelma have you tried one of those pointy sticks (Touch Stylus Stick Pen) I find it handy clicking of adds on my Kindle fire.
I run Adblockplus on my PC so I don't seen any adds just the forum text but the version I tried on the Kindle wouldn't let me see photos so I have to put up with the adds.

I hovered the Pointy finger over all of the pop-up and it was the only spot at which the link disappeared. Maybe you have a different one?

..............the good news is............its nearly the end of November so there'll be a new pop-up in December. Maybe Admin will make it user friendly this time?

The daft thing about the Mulberry ad is that, the offer is limited to one per household, so, even when you've bought one, you still have to endure the advert.
