I'm using the Opera bowser on High Sierra on a 2009 27" iMac.

I think this works with all browsers but if you drag your cursor over the side of the browser until you get a two headed arrow, hold down lh mouse button and drag inwards it'll narrow the browser window, side ads will go and if you just nip the bottom one that'll go too. This might work on Windows too.

After years of using internet I just tune out of the ads, and to those who grumble about ads on the forum perhaps you might ask yourselves how much it's cost you?! As a matter of interest Youtube, Channel 4, ITV and other offer ad free PREMIUM services. Is this the way you want to go?

That "CLOSE X" is bl***y annoying as it opens up a new window flogging their tree! This is reminiscent of old pop ups where the X was actually a hidden hyperlink to some very nasty places!

I use Win10, Chrome on an Acer laptop, couple of years old and I use Duckduckgo as a search engine as Google ads annoy me.
I have adblockplus which blocks most ads, either automatically or by Blocking the "element".

When I log onto the Vine all the ads are there but as soon as I move off that page onto new posts or summat. they disappear.
I turn off adblocking on the site regularly, to see what's being advertised, then turn it back on again!. No complaints about the ads from me as I can choose when to see them.

...........and I bought the mulberry because it was offered on the GYO magazine - not because of the pop-up.

It doesn't matter how carefully I expand the screen and click right in the middle of the X I can't close the ad. It goes straight into the full thingy. My problem is that I would love to order one but I have a personal rule to not buy from any company whose ads annoy me, and this one does.

I do have a slight problem with stuff I already buy who change their perfectly innocuous ads to something supremely irritating.

They're gone - does happy dance! I can see the reasoning behind the side ads and even the moving top ones, they're somewhat out of the way when you are reading or posting, but why on earth they would put an ad right where the posts are, which annoys everyone - is beyond me
