    • Crikey, the vine is running a bit slow today?
Been and did a bit of local shopping and managed to get a couple of small bottles of vinegar, white and brown, to pickle my beetroot. This is now done and all bottled.

Popped into the plot to water up and finished up staying there for 1.5 hrs!

Dinner is well on the way and looking forward to my fresh PSB from the plot with my roast beef.

      • Happy Easter Sunday

I've just done something I've never done before - and don't want to do it again. Pulled out my Mum's loose tooth!

Its been loose and wobbly for a while, today it was dangling so much it was sticking out between her lips. No chance of taking her to a dentist and I was worried that it would fall out overnight and choke her.
I asked her to grab it with some tissue and pull it out but she couldn't do it - so she asked me to do it. To say I was scared of hurting her and making the situation worse is an understatement. I was petrified!

I grabbed, tugged and out it came - this bloody stump. There was blood so I made her bite on a wad of kitchen roll and it stopped. Phew.

She had some tomato soup for lunch (to disguise the blood) and I gave her 10p from the Tooth Fairy. We were both very brave!!

When I left she was smiling - so was I. Feel exhausted.

Hope there aren't any dentists reading this.

            • Good evening all.
Hope all who had the good weather enjoyed it.
It was pretty miserable here, cold, grey and wet.
Nothing gardening related done today other than checking on the plants.
Have a good evening all and stay safe.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I always thought hens had no teeth, hence the expression ‘ as rare as hens teeth’ so I worry for Mammy VC . But seriously I hope your mams good now VC and not in any pain.

What a miserable day, rain this morning and threatening to rain all day. Just sat in and watched tv all day.

                • Pre-Mornin n'alln'all
Just been listening to some welcomed rain on the window.
Hoping to plant out the spuds today so I hope it's not too heavy later!
We've been forecast frost for Monday night so I best hunt out the fleece for the strawberries and net curtains for the pear trees.

                  How traumatic VC!
Reminds me of my daughter ...we were shopping in M&S when she was a tot and suddenly started screaming . I had absolutely no idea why and she kept pointing to her mouth.
Peering inside I suddenly spotted a tooth which was turned back to front
She'd been wobbling it and twisting it so much that she'd turned it 180 degrees and it has sprung back firmly into its socket
Loads of staff ( easily 10 of them!) came running up to see if they could help (her distress level at this stage was very disturbing )
Only answer for it was for me to grab the tooth and pull and twist hard.
And yes it popped out to everyone's relief.
They piled her high with sweets from the shelves for being such a brave little girl.
(Notice no one offered this very distressed mommy a bottle of brandy to cope with the stress of it all!)
And yes, the tooth fairy did visit her that evening.

As an aside-they don't have tooth fairies in France -it's a tooth mouse!

All i have planned today is to move the brassica cage to the next bed along after that the usual gardening, reading, jogging on my trampoline and texting family.

                        • Mornings!
Yes the wind has been howling down the chimneys since early this morning, and it's wobbling my poor fence again' Oh dear - just when I thought I'd fixed it
It's 7C now and the sky is grey, but really doesn't look as if there's any rain in it, which we do need...
So, It'll be another 'make it up as you go along' day - I don't know about you lot, but I seem to be getting through an awful lot of tea and coffee while I'm stuck at home
Luckily I managed to grab an Iceland delivery (9pm - 11pm!) only a few frozen bits, mostly pantry stuff and fresh fruit, salad and veg (now the plot is bare!).
Makes me wonder how the 'old-time' gardeners managed to supply food all year round. Wasn't called the hungry-gap for nothing, I suppose

Have a good'un and stay safe!

It's a bright morni g but with a very cold breeze.
No plans for the day, so take it as it comes
                            Stay safe all.

                            • Brrrrr.....back to winter out there today.

Its amazing how two consecutive days can have such different temperatures. I'm glad now that I didn't put my toms and peppers in the greenhouse yesterday.

I've already lit the woodburner and jobs for today include dish washing, hoovering and dusting.I also want to have a go at concreting in a fence post.
I may cut the grass but haven't yet decided on a demarcation line between my lawn and my wild flower meadow to be.

Take care all and stay safe.

                              • Good Morning All Rained last night, dry but cold and windy this morning. Wish Himself's tooth would come out to relieve the pain which only seems to arrive in the middle of the night, unless he's not telling me during the day. Sowed beans yesterday. Have a good day All and stay safe
