  • First grass cut of the season planned for today with only possible forecast problem being getting my strimmer and mower started. Weyhey, strimmer started second pull and I got round the edges trimmed.
Double weyhey, mower started first pull. Got three quarters of the way round the front lawn then put put stop. Ran out of fuel. grrrh. Anyway, strimmed off the rest of the lawn and I'll get fuel tomorrow when we are doing what is now our normal weekly shop.

        • Mornin Flon'all
We had a fantastic thunderstorm during the early hours but surprisingly little rain.
          Still...every drop counts!

Indoor building work again for the next few days, I think we may need to stop soon due to lack of supplies but we have some decorating we can then turn to.
Wish I had a Tardis so I could nip back in time to get more sand, plasterboard, wood, and paint supplies.

Anyone got any plans for this weekend?
We are having drinkies and nibbles via Zoom with some musician friends this evening.
I need to pickle a hundred or more quail eggs at some point too!

          Keep safe peeps...see ya later!

I've heard that said but Hugelkultur beds can easily be amended to deal with this if it arises. Again, so I'm told. As long as the dirt is at least the same depth as the wood layer, this is less likely to be an issue apparently. I'm giving it a go in a couple of beds anyway, I fancied trying it after watching loads of youtube vids.

                    Another beautiful day..
                    Spending it in the garden....again.

Yes Nicos, we have been doing House Party with the family and it's good fun.
                    Enjoy your evening.

                    • Mornings!

Most of my plants are all still a bit small for in/out, cos I sowed later this year, hoping they wouldn't be pot bound when I plant them out. Hope I don't regret that later

I managed to get a Trashco slot for Sunday 26th and ordered all the stuff I didn't get from Iceland, but noticed there are no cheap delivery slots and prices have risen on many of the products I usually buy *sigh* Still grateful to get one! I don't think the supermarkets will be short on profit after this, though

A bright morning but not warming up as quickly today, found that out when I hung the washing out

Have a good'un and stay safe!

                          • Good afternoon,
Starting this morning I washed the dishes, walked the dog,lit the woodburner, folded the clothes I had taken off line yesterday, hoovered all floors down stairs, made the dinner fish, chips and peas.....phew!
Washed dishes again, took support off fence post I had concreted in, painted the post to match the fence (sage green) painted the birdbox and the front of the woodstore while I had the paint at hand.
Came on here and will go to allotment and shop for essentials once I have a cuppa.

                            • Looks like I haven't dropped in on this thread yet today... Thought I had.

Had a good chat with my mum and her physiotherapist at the hospital this morning. Wish I could persuade her that's in her own best interest to be a bit more co-operative... But a useful conversation, nevertheless.

Took delivery of my latest flour order. Anyone else got 50 kg of flour in the house...? Not all of it bread flour, honest. That said, got a couple of loaves on the go at the moment.

Had a tidy out of our 'dry' fridge, essentially a cupboard for rice and the like. No need to buy spaghetti for a few weeks it would seem. I've also got rather a lot of brown lentils too. But it was another useful thing to do. Need to add risotto and paella rice and chickpeas to the next shopping list. Tomorrow's job along the same lined will be sort through the freezer.

Got just enough left of the day to do a bit of paid work, so better get on with it.

Have a lovely afternoon, everyone. Catch you tomorrow if not later.

                              • Afternoon it’s sunny but fairly windy here, nice for pottering around the garden but not comfy for siting out.
That’s a lot of flour Snoop there was an interesting program on BBC 2 Tuesday ‘in side the factory’ on making Le Creuset cast iron Dutch ovens not sure if you’re able to watch it on iPlayer though.
