  • I’m sorry to hear about your dogs, Peanut. I dread mine going.

Another beautiful day. I’ve been putting up my poly tunnel for the last 2 days. The frame’s nearly done, just some nuts and bolts to go in the roof. I needed something to stand on and couldn’t be bothered to fetch the step stool last evening.

Interesting thing, I’ve been to check on my seedlings and found one of the 2 bundles of guy ropes halfway up the garden and not where I left them. The other bundle has disappeared altogether. Now I haven’t moved them and the dogs have been with me and it wasn’t either of them, so that leaves cats, foxes or hedgehogs. I’m not going to worry about it as I can use twine instead.

    Coffee finished, off outside.

      • Afternoon all. Took insulation off greenhouse staging at the allotment then went and did a largish shop with the obligatory queues. 3 hours later returned to the plot watered all that needed it and covered up seedlings again.

Its a lot warmer now and the early morning chill is off the air. I can hear the local kids playing in there own gardens and it reminds me of when I lived next to a school. It really is a joy to hear them having fun but be secluded enough that I can't see them.

Take care everyone and stay safe.

                • Afternoon all,

Lovely day here, hoping the rain will keep away till tonight. I'm amazed how quickly my annuals seeds are popping up, they were only sown on Wednesday and most are up already. I've never sown annuals before so this is exciting stuff!
The house is now a tip, well to others it would be, as every surface is covered with seed trays and pots. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy peeping each morning to see if anything has germinated over night. Such fun!

Still need to get the greenhouse washed out and my windows while I'm at it. So many jobs to do I'm not getting any done!

                  Have a lovely day everyone.

                  • Good afternoon all.
We are having a rather dull day here.
No sunshine and the temp is low.
However there is still much to be done.
                    Have a good day all.

                    • Afternoon, everyone.

Busy morning outdoors today. Got some scything (me) and strimming (Mr Snoop) done. One of the snow-damaged olive trees has also been seen to. Looks more like a skeleton than a tree now. It really did take a beating. Anyway, olive trees are resilient and it'll soon grow back. She says optimistically.

Sowed my toms, peppers, aubergines and chilli at long last. Very, very, very late. But better that than never. My mood has improved somewhat over yesterday. But we have no muck, no chance of getting any and the beds are now thoroughly compacted. Shame. But at least we can grow something. The shopping came out of quarantine this morning and I found three little gem lettuce. Amazing how much you can crave a fresh salad.

Bit of work to do now before a celebratory supper.

Have a nice rest of Sunday.

                      • Hello all. Bit cloudy, but still warm here, and no sign of the rain I was hoping for at 3pm (51% chance according to Alexa). We haven't had a proper shower in ages.

I have mowed my lawn today for the first time since I moved here. I was hoping for some decent grass clippings to mulch my potatoes with, but the grass is very patchy and there's not a lot of it. Hopefully now it's trimmed, it will put on some good growth and I will get more over the next few weeks.

I've sown a few seeds (outdoors) yesterday and today, including some spring onions and chives from Mamzie and VC. Quite a few things sprouting in my cobbled together rubble filled veggie patch and I've unceremoniously planted out some very leggy seedlings I started indoors because they were clearly going to turn their toes up if the spent any more time inside. I don't have the time nor energy (not coldframe) to baby lots of plants, so there's been no gradual hardening off process and it's sink or swim for anything but the tomatoes and cucumber (only one of which sprouted). The runner beans look happy, and the mange tout are picking up, but I'm not sure that the beetroot are going to pull through. I've not tried starting so many things indoors before, but wanted to get a head start if I'm going to be moving again in August.

So glad I'm not the only one so far behind. I only sowed my Toms, peppers and aubergines last week and still have a few more to get done tonight. You are not alone Snoop Puss!

I finally got my greenhouse all washed out and the downstairs windows too, all with the ongoing supervision of my resident Robin.

                          • Good evening, it was a bit cooler this morning and though it did heat up it wasn't as warm as it has been, watched the church service this morning, the minister is doing the service via fb. so we watched that then I went out and started sterilising my home made compost as I need to use it for my baskets and tubs so I decided to sterilise a couple of bags of home made compost which I will mix with course sand and soil, on another note I have tried several times to get on to the Vine, at one point I got on and was looking through some threads and went to post when it went down then back up and I was told I needed to log on, so just shut it down, right going to shut up the greenhouse and cover everything with fleece, then I might make up a power point presentation, then again I might not well enjoy the week, keep safe keep happy and smile
