Mornin n'alln'all
Wow...that bread dome looks fantastic Snoop! (Just goooogled it)
Love the fact that you can use the base as a griddle pan too (I see some drop scones coming on...)
Never heard of it before-but that's certainly an upgrade on using a cast iron casserole dish!
More hemping of the wall again today. We can only do about 18" at a time otherwise it sloughs off.
Looks miserable, damp and old outside. Roll on Spring....
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Morning its wet and windy here so only veg gathering today outdoors.
Another one here who's googled the bread dome, I've been making due with my iron Dutch oven but I would love a dome/cloche. Let us know how you get on with it Snoop.
They post abroad, Nicos (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be getting one - 18 pounds to Spain for a 15-kg package, if you fancied adding anything else, though I didn't). Nowhere near as heavy as a cast-iron Dutch oven, so it won't have the same heat-retaining property. I'll have to see how it goes and let you know.
I'm currently using a cast-iron oval casserole, which has improved my bread, but it isn't easy to get the loaf in without it deflating a bit when it flops on landing! I've learned not to burn my fingers on the sides by painful experience. So I'm hoping a flat base will improve both these problems.
I'm reluctant to try a ceramic cloche because it's liable to crack in our oven (very old-fashioned, primitive wood-burning range with no temperature control, flame goes over the top of the oven box - makes fantastic pizza but not so good for high ceramic/Pyrex dishes as they get too hot at the top).
I'll be using the base as a baking sheet. I also have scones, though not drop scones, in mind, as it will get good and hot, so the scones might rise a bit more and spread a bit less.
Another item I have been impressed with, and cannot justify purchasing by any stretch of the imagination but which I have no regrets buying, is the Emile Henry crown baker... It's counter-intuitive in use - you put the rolls inside for their second rise and then put the cold mould in the oven - but it really does work. Mr Snoop's eyes light up every time it comes out.
Edited to say: I didn't pay full price for the crown baker. It's a ridiculous price. But it often seems to come up on special offer at online kitchenware shops here. Maybe the same in the UK? And especially France?
Good morning all.
Bright and clear with a temp of 5 degs.
Going to mass shortly.
Out this afternoon with the whole family.
Celebrating my daughters 50th which was on Thursday and my granddaughter who will be 16 tomorrow.
Looking forward to a nice afternoon together,
Have a good day all.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
Promised one of the dogs(the younger Husky), a long walk today.Seems bright out so once I have had a bite to eat and some painkillers we will go on a roundabout route through the woods and the countryside.
He's already had a short walk this morning so this should tire him out (and me)
Take care folks and have a goodun.

Morning.. I just wrote a massive post regarding the vine not working properly, how annoying it was years ago and that it seems better now, how my photos seem to be uploading now.. etc
I went to upload a photo and it crashed..
It doesnt like a particular photo for some reason, its definitely small enough.. I've reduced to 25% and it still wont upload..
Thanks Snoop, it's still 4/5 weeks until she arrives but she's coming from a friend so we're visiting when we can!
I cant wait!!
She's got your eyes.

Good evening a cold wet day today, after church this morning I was in the greenhouse for a time where I mixed worm compost with some vermiculite which I will use for some onion seeds, I also empted a couple of baskets onto a poly sheet which I had spread out on the grass I will leave it for a week or 2 for the birds to clean it up then I will then put it onto one of the veg beds, but it was too cold to do any other work so I went in to make the tea. We'll enjoy your week and pass on a smile
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
