  • Now I have had a chance to assess the weather whilst walking the dog, I have to say its sunny and bright if not a tad windy. Not what the forecast was, as it was for rain.

Counting my blessings, I've been outside and unblocked a drain plus cut and shortened the plastic drain pipe for the washer/sink which was sticking out of the wall too far.

I intend carrying on with the saga of the under stairs cupboards today when I have figured out how and where to hinge the doors.

I've got my new chainsaw blade now so if it stays bright I might even venture out to cut up some fire wood, or not, depending on if the weather stays bright.

    Take care folks.

    • Morning all,not bad outside, ref this need for a sleep in the day time,
from cradle to the grave,we all need a bit of extra here and there, the reasons are very many,it is NOT age related, but what your body needs, during working years, life takes over, one rallies round, and has a different routine to those not working,THATS one reason to keep going after retirement, the routine goes out the window,NOW is the time to let things take just a little respite,WE HAVE EARNED IT ,it's just the bodies way of saying i need to heal a little, sometimes is not even about sleep, but just able to simply switch of for a few, hope that clears things up a little for you youngsters ,i feel like it now hehehe sleep that is,it's all about being good to yourselves, give it a go.

      • Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Just back from the Vets as Bess needed her booster jab. There was a little dog there called Ruby - can't get the song off my mind now.
One minute its sunshiny and calm and the next there's heavy rain and gusts. By some strange coincidence the rain doesn't start until I'm at the far end of the garden and it stops as soon as I've shooed the chooks back into their run and the dogs into the house and I'm indoors too.
Somebody up there is watching me!!
I've never been an afternoon nap person - I was too conspicuous at work to be able to doze off. However, as soon as I turn off the light and hunker down in bed I fall asleep and usually sleep right through until 7 ish. My mind is still active though - the other night whilst I slept, I designed a fold-flat coffee cup that would fit in a pocket/handbag.

        • Fencer started at last. 2 weeks ago I only needed 2 new panels, I now need a whole new fence, so I've decided to use better quality materials in the hope that the damn thing stays up this time. Both fences seem to fail in the same place, but I'm only responsible for one. My neighbour completely renewed the other one two years ago and it hasn't moved, so I'm using the same type of materials for the other one. Biggest snag is no suppliers have them in stock at the mo because of the storms. The fencer was booked before them which is why I've managed to get him here this week.

The weather looks bright and sunny but there's a "lazy" wind. Staying inside in the warm and contemplating planting some seed trays up. Time for a cup of tea. Laters.

          • Thanks for that bit of information LD and yes you have cleared things up a bit for us youngsters though I still think that in APs position its age related as for VC though old she says she doesn't have a nap,I suppose most old folk take a nap just because, as you said, they have time, as for my self I think once I am old I will also take an afternoon nap, at present when my head hits the pillow I sleep the night through, you know what they say, with a clear conscience you sleep all night though in VC s case it just shows there are exceptions to every rule now need to go and collect the boys.

              • Total change of plan. Shallots prepared for pickling and sitting in a bowl with salt added to harden them and leach some of the excess water from them. I will pickle them tomorrow after draining off the brine water.

Hmmm. What about those times when you say you're off to inspect the insides of your eyelids?

You're going to need a good explanation to wriggle out of this one, Rary.

                  • You tell him, Snoop. Rary can't fool us. He'll probably come back and say he was looking for a loose eyelash but we know the truth.

I've been to see my Mum. She says she woke up when someone shook her, asking if she was alright. There were "3 huge policewomen" (though the jury's out on whether they were M or F). They'd left a note addressed to "Mrs Dorothy's Carers" saying the neighbours had called them because they were worried about her which is probably a nice way of saying the neighbours were unable to sleep with that racket.
I've put a timer on the TV so it will switch off at 10 when all good 100 year-olds should be fast asleep. Hopefully, she won't have an ASBO now.

                            • Evening all,

Weather fine first thing and I managed to get all my shrub cuttings loaded into my estate car (seats down) and off to the tip. Two runs needed, rear door pulled down over the shrubbery as I had over loaded . Just got home and the rain came on.. Clearly I was due to have a good day . Later went to B&Q while her ladyship was visiting her Dad and I managed to get what I needed to finish my drainage from my plot shed roof so now harvesting every available drop . 100 litres already gathered from the weekend with my temporary arrangement which if my arithmetic is any good is more than 20 gallons. That's 20 gallons less to carry from home .

Had a short siesta after getting home
