  • Mornings!
    Cold wet and windy again
I know it's not been a very cold winter here, but it seems to be a long one - if that makes any sense? I didn't get much winter prep done on the plot, because f the heavy autumn rain, and I still haven't caught up because of yet more rain and wind. I think it may turn into a 'rake over and sow/plant' kind of year...
My poor garden is a mess as well, grass really needs cutting/strimming but it gets very little sun in the winter and is just too wet to do it.

With this in mind do I really need 3 more seed catalogues in today's post? I refuse to buy more seeds, so they've gone straight in the bin.

I think I need another cup of tea, anyone else need one?

    Have a good'un

    • Dull and drizzly here as well, made myself a cuppa, plugged in my earphones to listen to an audiobook while I shred a big heap of my father in laws paperwork from an raf association he used to run with peoples information on. It will all go in with the compost tomorrow, weather permitting.

      • Good morning all.
Bright and breezy here but a very cold wind chill.
Baby minding this afternoon so that's play with the toys episode.
        Have a good day all.

Yes Snadge, the vine is so slow this morning, we must pedel faster.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

        • Afternoon all, that's brave, TS, throwing out seed catalogues. I've got one beside me, still in its plastic wrapper. I'm sure I don't need anything, but I can't quite bring myself to dispose of it. Would probably be a good idea, though, as I'm bound to spot something I wouldn't mind having and then, to make the most of the postage, well, I could add a few more things while I'm at it, couldn't I?...

Bright and warm outdoors, but it was a very cold night. I've got Mr Snoop out sorting out lots of pruned walnut branches for firewood. Looks like it'll be cold nights for a while yet. Which is what you'd expect, but the warm days are catching the trees, birds, insects and us out.

Busyish day again today. But just bits and pieces and nothing too brain-aching.

Hope you all have lovely afternoons.

          • afternoon all,

I've got a pile of old seed catalogues no handy. Don't know why, must be a gardener's thing.

Lovely day out with loads of shiney but there is snow forecast. I have to say it was brisk when I was out but I can normally smell and feel when snow is coming. Don't know why with that either. Must be summat to do with ozone?

Heading out shortly to try to source a drive belt for an old merrytiller rotavator. I know the size for it but unfortunately my measurements don't tie in with what's offered on fleabay even taking account of wear and tear on the old belt.

            Wish me luck.

              • Good afternoon, though it's dark enough to think its evening lights are on in the house and at the moment we have a hail storm, it has been a bad day all day today heave rain driven by a strong wind followed by hail then a wee bit of sunshine, then back to the rain etc. was out in the greenhouse for a short time and as my onions are showing I decided to take them off he heat pad, I will have to remember to cover them when I get back home, hail has stopped now snowing, its a funny start to the year things coming through quite early then this weather just hope my planting out indicator doesn't get it wrong, right need to go just caught my daughters car passing, so I can get home now, enjoy the evening and keep warm
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                • Evening All.
My luvly dog, Ted, jogged my elbow and tipped my coffee onto the keyboard. I've lost my C key and the Z key was stuck in a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Just set up a wifi keyboard to use until I can replace the original keyboard/have it repaired/buy another laptop. Not sure which route to take at the mo.
How can keyboards differ so much? The insert/delete buttons are in totally different positions - so who knows what I'll end up posting?
In other news, its been bitterly cold and rained this morning. Not much doing outdoors in this weather.
                  Hope you're all flood free.

                        • Morning all. First job is to take the gaffer tape off the front of the letter box.The wind rattles the letter box which sets the dog off barking. To get a decent nights sleep I tape it up in the evening.
Its still blowing a hooligan just now roaring down the chimney and rattling the roof tiles. We'll just have to put up with the dog barking or the postie won't be able to deliver the mail.
One dog has been let out into the garden and the other one doesn't seem too keen to go for a walk.
I suppose that's the joy of living at the top of a steep hill, we don't get flooded but we just get blown away.

                          Take care folks.

                              • Morning, blimey it's rough out there, strong west wind, so the jobs in the garden will have to wait, winds wrong for fishing too and as SWMBO is poorly, will probably be in most of the day playing nurse...…………...
