  • I'd go with that too VC...we have one in the ivy by the study window. It's flippin noisy for such a tiny bird!!!

Is this it? Bit confusing as there are other birds and other calls in there too!

    • Nicos, your winter temps are colder than ours. The lowest I've recorded is -17 ºC without wind chill factor. The usual minimums are -12 ºC. Summers are hotter here though. When I say 'here', though, it's a very specific here in our valley. 2 km away and it's easy 6 ºC warmer in winter, often as much as 10 ºC. But once indoors with the wood fire going, who cares?

Grey and cold here today, very hard frost and thick fog early on. Amazing difference to yesterday, when we actually sat outside for lunch. Got too cold about 3 pm, but not bad going.

Lovely dog, Captn. Life won't be the same. And you'll be happy for it. (You're already talking about 'her' rather than 'it'. So, go on, admit it, you're looking forward to her arriving.)

Not much on the cards for today for me. A bit of billing and a lot of washing-up. Oh, and walking the dogs later.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

      • I think you've cracked it VC & Nicos I do have Wrens in the garden, just never heard them be that noisy before
There were a couple of cats nearby, to annoy them, neither were mine by the way

        • Evening, dull day here at the coast, but a run in land a bit and we found a large bright thing in the sky, not too sure what it was...……………...went to Dobbies for our free coffees and bumped into a half price seed sale...…………..well it would be rude not too. Sweetcorn, radish, carrots, mesum………...mesem……………..Livingston daisies and lobelia for hanging baskets. I did well to get out with just those as I don't actually need any seeds...…………….lol

              • Evening all, sorry not been able to catch up with this thread so just posted at the end. We’re heading home tomorrow morning from sunny Canary Islands where we have been experienced temperatures in the mid to late 20’s these last few days, was 28’C in the city at 11:35 on the 27th. I was in the city with my wife bringing her to hospital, we were out for a walk on the 26th and as she was stepping down from a rather high pavement she tripped and fell, spraining her left ankle and cutting her foot and shin, and in the process managed to fracture the fibula near the knee cap on the right leg. So she has bandages and an ankle support on the left leg and a brace from just below her hip down to her lower shin on her right leg, and I had to buy her some crutches to get around.
So happy to have had travel insurance who basically arranged everything and a big thanks to Ryanair for organising airport assistances in CI and in Ireland at no extra cost, and are going to refund my pre booked seat charges because of the wheel chair assistance, you get your seat for free and also a companion seat. Happy days for my pocket then. My wife can’t wait to get home to the loving bosom of her family she’s not going to be driving for at least 6 weeks.

                  • Mornin n'alln'all
Speedy recovery to both Mrs Can and Captn

                    Like the name Jessie !

Up early as Hibou was bouncing around with a full bladder. I thought she'd have been demanding to come back in by now as it's-2C and a very heavy frost. She must have found something interesting to hunt.

Just made a brew and cleared up after last nights visitors. Always good to hear the dishwasher going first thing in the morning! (It's one thing I insisted on buying when we did up our kitchen. It's only a 3/4 one, but that's plenty for us.)

We have a couple of tawny owls calling to each other at the moment. Deffo a boy and girl . Bit early in the year for chatting each other up isn't it?

                    Wow...nearly 2020 -a new decade!
At least we can talk more easily about being in the 20s. I never really got my head around what the last two decades were called...the naughties and the teenties?...absolutely no idea of the official terms!

And on that deep thought, I'll go and see what Hibou is up to!

                    See ya later peeps.

                      • Morning, all.

Lovely name for your puppy, cptn. Sorry to hear you're not doing so well. And sorry to hear about your wife, CtM. Sounds like a nasty fall.

Really cold and foggy here. Frost just starting to thaw and drop off the olives. I'll give them another few days of freezing conditions and then pick them, salt them and leave for a few weeks till they're good and dead. I just love aceitunas muertas... Mind you, the rate the birds are getting through them, there might not be many left in a few days.

Back to work kind of day. Never mind. Have a good one, everyone.

                        • Mornings,
a cold and very frosty one, Mollycat decided she really didn't want to go out - the sun is finally trying to break through, so both of us may get outside later...

Hope everybody who is poorly, gets better soon - I've found holiday alcohol seems to numb my sore throat, or is that just a good excuse for finishing the opened bottles LOL

                          Have a good'un

                          • Good morning all.
We had a beautiful red sunrise.
Sun is shining g and its 10degs.
Unfortunately we are off to a funeral this morning.

Get well soon all who are feeling under the weather.
                            Have a good day.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Surely wearing gloves is a better alternative? Give up fishing, perish the thought.
