Morning, we must all having the same wet and windy weather, I'll be nipping in the garden later for kale and PSB but that will be about it for the gardening today.
Very wet and windy and only half the new greenhouse is now glazed, still at least I won't have to do much watering as most of the roofs gone. It's polycarbonate so no broken glass and all the panels have survived. The part I used old fashioned glazing clips seems to have fared better than the parts where I have used the 'revolutionary' new glazing strips which were a real pain to fit. I will re-glaze using clips and mastic all the panels in, pity I didn't have time to use mastic earlier but too busy sowing, that'll teach me to not be so impatient.
Obvs very wet and windy, but so far so good - but forecast is for worse this afternoon Everything is still crossed (which is awkward at times ) Round the fire with a book is the best place today I think..
Good to hear from you, TS. I've been wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear your news, Starch. But it sounds like you have a plan and a solution in mind.
Hard frost and bright blue again here. Due to stay sunny all day, in fact, though we'll have a bit of wind kick up later. Nowhere nears as bad as you're forecast, so good luck all.
Good morning all.
So much rain has fallen overnight the front garden is flooded.
There is a break in the clouds right now and the sun is shining.
Extremely windy and more rain on the way,
Stay safe and warm and have a good day,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Yeh Danny - I'd noticed there are no birds on our feeders-we have about 5 hanging up (feeders not birds!) and they are whizzing around in the wind.
Must be near on impossible for most birds to fly in this wind-they must get very hungry just hunkering down.
I'll make sure they are all full for when the wind drops

I spoke too soon. The pests are back, just later. A few small bird about too.
The wind doesn't seem to effect them.
I think the rain effects them more as the parakeets look bedraggled.
My son ( Sheffield) has just informed me that have a stupidly tall leylanda on council land behind their house crash into their garden
Watch out folks!

These are the worst gales we have seen for a while,no matter how prepared we think we are eh,Nicos hope the council will get there legal team onto it,it's all the inconvenience that go with things,as long as life is safe,it could be a lot worse, how about what other counties have had,we have somethings to be greatfull for,at least we still have communication on here for now,it does help hearing whats going on on our news,in other areas,if you have to go out,be careful.

Happy Sunshineless Sunday
Its more wet and windy Wales today.
There's a robin on the hanging feeder and its rocking so much, he looks a bit seasick. the trees are whipping about and there are small branches down on the road outside. They won't be there long as the road is more like a stream at the mo.
I'm not going yellow sticker shopping today - that's how bad it is outside.
Stay safe everyone - there's very little that can't wait until tomorrow.
So much for the lettuces I sowed recently. Today's wind has not been kind.
None of the seeds have germinated yet, so I've just scooped all the soil back in and am hoping some of them are buried shallowly enough that they will still sprout.
