  • Good morning all
A mild morning but its cloudy.
    Just domestics and gardening here.
We might go to the cemetery later to put some flowers on my mothers grave.

Get well soon Jay, prayers and virtual hugs.
    Take good care of yourself.

Have a good dsy and stay safe all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

          • Afternoon all, hope the day is less grey where you are than it is here.

I need to venture out to the post office today so I can send a 'care parcel' to my daughter. She's at Uni in Aberdeen (or at least she was until they shut). She's struggling to find gluten free foods as the supermarkets are empty and the small amounts of gluten free food they do carry, have been wiped out ages ago. I'd like to think it's other people with gluten problems that have bought it up but I suspect it's not them alone. She literally has been living off 1 packet of pasta and a jar of pesto. Now I know there's a standing joke about starving students etc but this is ridiculous.

Anyway, I have some bits I am about to send to her so I hope to goodness the parcel gets there and no-one senses there will be a toilet roll or two in there as well and waylays it.

            Edit: Speedy recovery Jay x

            • ^^^^^^ when reading the above it makes me grateful that I can eat practically anything, I hope your daughter is managing OK gardening gal
Good afternoon, dull, cold but dry today, I decided to do a bit of tidying up as there was a fair bit of sawdust about from the sawing of fire wood, but about half way through the area I was doing there were several strong gusts of wind and a lot of the material was blown all over the place and as it was mostly the sawdust I was trying to clear up it pointless spraying it with water, so it's now a job for another day, I then went about tidying up parts of the garden, it was either that or housework so I thought I would give that a miss
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Gosh...I see you are on lockdown in the UK too finally...couldn't understand why it didn't happen earlier knowing what's been happening in the rest of the world.

Well...I made it back from the shops. Think I'm good now until about Easter ...and nope, I didn't panic buy loads of things.
The frustrating thing is that most of my shopping was fresh veg so I also bought things like carrots, parsnip, celeriac, butternut squash, squash....things which will store for a few weeks. Hopefully my radish and lettuce will be coming through not long after that.
There were loads of things on the shelves with only a few gaps, so no need to worry.

Only saw a couple of police cars but they weren't stopping peeps.
The hypermarket only had about 80 trollies available and you couldn't go in without a trolley!
That's one way of restricting customer numbers eh??

                Keep safe peeps...

                  • Morning, chums.

Grey, windy and chilly here at the moment. But no rain as yet.

More of the usual for me today. Mr Snoop is hoping to finish off the second solar system, weather conditions permitting.

Read the news of the UK lockdown. Hang on in there and good luck, peeps.

                      • I now need to cancel the Allotment Association AGM which was supposed to be this coming Saturday. As OH says, her health is more important than an AGM.

On a more up beat note, plenty of housework,DIY,gardening to get on with. I need to go to the petrol station to get fuel for my mower and hopefully give the grass its first cut.

Take care peeps and look after yourself.

Yes, we've been thinking that our current system isn't really enough. We bought a bank of big gel batteries. But they're rubbish. Don't hold a charge, can't take a load... In short, don't buy U-Power gel batteries. Consumer protection isn't the same here as in the UK or perhaps France... Some friends are upgrading their system, so we bought their batteries for what they would have got as scrap value for them (apparently, they treated them so badly that they've only got a couple of years' life left in them, but we can still sell them on for the scrap value at the end), solar panels are dirt cheap these days (we got eight 250 W panels secondhand for 680 euros) and bought a new charge regulator. Oh, and we bought our friends' whopping inverter-charger. So, big power, here we come. Might even be able to leave the freezer on overnight!

In case anyone's wondering about the secondhand stuff, it came from a reputable source, not nicked from someone else.

Another crampy night for me, but hope to go for a short walk later - hopefully that'll loosen my legs up. It's a lovely sunny day for one, and warming up quite quickly - which always helps

Have a good'un and stay safe
