  • Morning all.

Too windy to put up Poly Tunnel today so I’ll prepare the patch of garden ready for the turf that’s coming on Thursday. I had a rather curt email from the supplier yesterday. I don’t think they meant to be rude, but that’s the way they came across. Just instructions on how they deliver, how to prepare the ground and aftercare. I’ve laid turf before so I know the ropes.

I was in two minds whether to bring the trays of seeds in last night, but I’m glad I did. I only left the beans and peas out. The wind has blown the lids off them.

First, I’m going to do some housework which has been sorely neglected over the last few days.

    Laters.

    • Afternoon!
Ha!... finally got back to sleep
We've loads of wind here too but it's still warm at the moment.
OH has decided he'll plant the spuds...looks like we've got about 80 to plant out. Every year we say we'll plant less.
Suppose it's less than the usual amount of around 200 we used to grow
I imagine we can share them with the neighbours .

Jay - I've decided it's a 'window cleaning kind of day'
Our windows are covered with Sahara sand.....

Janie -I imagine the turf advice is to do with previous peeps complaining their turf has died cos they weren't given proper instructions.....

Wildflower area sounds lovely Snadge...I'd love to see some piccies when it's established????

Flo -give yr OH a wee dram of something at bedtime eh? Even if it doesn't work he'll appreciate your love and attention!!!!!

Keep safe peeps -we've a long way to go......

        • Afternoon all.

Rained again overnight. The start of the next bout, which is due to dump another 12 cm/120 litres per square metre on us. Tried doing some weeding today... A hopeless proposition. Trying not to be too downhearted. There's worse things that could be happening.

More work today, but am half asleep and finding it difficult to concentrate. Maybe I should just call it a day and go for a nap.

Catch you later guys. Have a good one meanwhile.

Edited to add: one good thing happened today. Managed to order another delivery of flour. As Marie-Antoinette didn't say: If there's no veg, let them eat bread.

          • Good evening, the day stated off being quite cool, so I decided to pressure wash the driveway outspent about four hours on it yesterday and today I thoroughly get I would use a patio cleaner, the whurly brush thing that you can get not any chemicals, only to discover that the connector is the wrong type for the machine I have, so will need to look for some connector or see if I can adapt something else, once I got started I discovered that the brush thing wouldn't have been suitable anyway as there was some heave moss growth on some areas, finally got the washing finished about three thirty and then started lifting some of the brick to pack them up a bit as there was a puddle sitting in a couple of area's, now I feel washed out, I think I will need to try Snoopsmethod of getting coffee as I usually have to make my own, though to be honest I did get a couple of cups brought out to me, I think OH was feart I would come in to the house with some mucky clothes. oh and it has turned out to be quite a warm day but heading out to cover all my plants as it is forecasted to be cold overnight, stay safe stay your distance and stay happy
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

            • Good evening all.
              A cool but funny day.
Planted 22 white turnips in large pots.
Daughter called snd left home made hot cross buns on the doorstep..
Later, don called and left a flower arrangement and chocolates as well.
We had a good day but very cold
Hope all are safe and well.

              • I managed to get two loads of turf into the turf bunker, dipped the oil tank for the central heating, fuel prices have dropped since the lockdown. I put all the patio cushions away after drying them overnight. Took down the parasol also.

                Stay safe everybody

We topped our oil up in February. 600 ltrs and cost £302 . Ordered another 600 a couple of days ago. £154 + some odd pence. Mind you I had to pay up front. Lady on phone was surprised when I changed my mind and paid by credit card instead of debit card.

                      • After a couple of fairly productive days in the garden, I've done very little today. Got a few seeds sown and then have done almost nothing else. No housework!

I have had a long nap this afternoon, so I haven't even been doing things like watching telly or reading. Guess I must have just needed a nice quiet day!

                        • Evening all. Been busy here chez Humph. Have a
greenhouse full of seeds and seedlings which is good. May also have accidentally ordered 100 strawberry plants

Like everyone, Easter was not as planned, my parents were meant to be visiting, and an Easter egg hunt and big dinner with friends was planned. Obviously didn't happen, but made the best of it. Easter bunny left a trail of chocolate in the garden, which the wildlife helped itself to. Somewhere there are baby rats playing with kinder egg toys ! Main basket was ok though

Facetimed with grandparents so they could share the small humphs getting their eggs. Had dinner on the posh plates.

Since we got the log burner the tumble drier is superfluous and has been turned into a dirty clothes receptacle. If its bright washing goes outdoors, if not it goes on a hanging frame over woodburner to dry.

We used to live in a flat and had no way of drying washing apart from the tumble drier. Luckily my electric bill was paid by my employer as it was a tied flat.

The washing line in the garden is now a novelty and is used to full advantage.
