  • My turf turned up 1/2 hr ago, but I’m still waiting for the delivery that should have arrived yesterday. So I still can’t finish preparing the ground. I’m not sure which of the stuff I’ve ordered it is as I’ve only got the courier details not the sender. I know it’s live plants.

I’m currently shifting the turf from the pavement to the garden. It’s heavy work so I’m taking a tea break and I’ve only done one of 3 layers. Bonus is that I get to keep the pallet that I have a use for. It’s already hot with no wind.

How much can I do before the forecast rain tomorrow?

    Laters.

    • Good on you Janie!!

Morning all, had a long lie this morning as it’s freezing!! Sun is up so hopefully it will warm up a bit, windy though!
Have my Tesco delivery today...going to be interesting to see what we get rather than what we ordered!! so grateful for this as it means my OH doesn’t have to go to the supermarket and chance picking something up!
So what’s on the cards for today? More of the same? I’m starting to get a bit fed up now as I’ve not been over the door other than for hospital appointments for about 8 weeks now! I’ve another 11 left too as I’m classed as vulnerable!! There is a track developing around my garden where I take my daily stroll!
Anyhoo hope you have a lovely day. x

      • Morning all. Dry but a bit colder than yesterday. Glad to see my cukes, courgettes and Butternut squash have all germinated on the bedroom windowsill. Its getting a bit crowded on there now with the toms and chilli's taking pride of place.

The washing is done so next job is to get it hung out.

Jobs for today include adding soil to low areas on lawn, especially where grass has been killed off by my dog pee-ing on it. The poor old soul is is getting old now and can't manage a walk so the only place she can pee is on the lawn. If I can get the areas re seeded I will try at least to move her to different positions each time to give the grass a chance.
I also need to check the concrete has set around my fence post and fill the couple of inches at top with soil.
After that, and weather permitting I will progress stripping grass off new curved border. Plenty to do so I better get cracking.
Before I go I have to applaud the old Captain raising 12 million for the NHS. What an inspiration.

        TTFN and take care.

        • Good morning all.
          Another lovely sunny day.
          Spending it in the garden.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

          • Soooo disappointed. My trees arrived and they’ve substituted a Lord Lambourne for a Braeburn. If I wanted a Braeburn I would’ve ordered one. I can buy them in any supermarket all year round. I specifically wanted a LL as I love the apples and the tree is the prettiest I’ve ever seen. I can’t get hold of their customer service and I have more important things to do than keep dialling.

            • Maybe email them Janie so at least you are on record saying you don't want it?
Or maybe there is small print somewhere????

(At least my tree wasn't substituted with something else!)

However... keep up the good work with the turf

I'm off to scrape out mud from between the granite stones in the study...dusty work!

              • Mornings!
                Another lovely sunny one

Put the last bag of freezer berries in the pot for jam. Thought they were all raspberries, but they were 50:50 redcurrants! The jam's a bit sharp despite adding more sugar, but it'll be ok in a sponge cake or cheesecake, once I'm allowed visitors again

Main job for the day is strimming the grass, cos it might rain tomorrow.

Have a good'un and stay safe!

                • Have to laugh today. After saying yesterday how I had been mulling a DIY 'something' over for ages and changing my mind more often than it goes from sun to rain in Scotland - (a lot!) I finally decided what to do.

My horoscope this morning said this -

"The more you think, the harder it is to decide. There's so much to digest. Life now brings you the chance to create a plan that stands a great chance of success."

                  Can't argue with that!

Supposed to have sun today but no-one seems to have told the skies here so it's dull.

                  Hope your day is brighter.

Janie - nothing worse than waiting for something and you dont get what you want. I agree with Nicos, if you cant get them by phone, email them. You never know, they might let you keep it and refund your original order.

                  • Theoretically, if they are advertising an apple cultivar they should supply that cultivar, or at least ask you if you want another instead?

                      • Good afternoon, again its a bit dull and cool though the cloud change cover looks as if it's breaking up, started off brushing up as I was for a lazier day, my legs are a bit sore from standing too long yesterday, but once out there were some slabs needing levelled off a bit so now lifting them and mixing some cement for them, having my lunch just now then back out to finish off then I think I will have a rest
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

you planning to put the branches under the soil/compost? if so, they will suck the nitrogen out of the soil/compost as they decompose.
