Woke up plagued by mosquitoes. A bit early, but with all this standing water about the place, it's going to be a terrible year for them. Will have to put the net up already.
Despite the mozzies, it feels like autumn here today 15 litres/mm per square metre of yet more rain overnight. That plus the rain that's forecast for the next three days will make another 60 litres/60 mm on top of the lakes we already have. What a bizarre change from the droughts of the last few years.
On a more positive note, I've decided to start a rye sourdough starter with Bren and smallblueplanet's help over on the sourdough thread. Nicos, what are the three starters your husband has? I'm guessing rye, wholewheat and white. Is that right?
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Catch you later.

( well it is here!)
Very dull start to the day so it's an indoor day for me.
Snoop -they are all organic white flour! That's what's bizzare about having 3 on the go
The mother (Ethel) was originally wholemeal but it was very heavy , and the spelt worked better, but they are all just topped up with organic white flour now as this seems to work best for us at the moment.
I had a mega kitchen sesh yesterday and in 6 hrs managed....
- 3large jars of pickled quail eggs (chilli, tarragon and also shallot flavoured cider vinegar)
- One large salmon and sweet corn quiche
- 6 lardons and cheese tartlets
- chocolate mousse
-rhubarb ,apple and almond egg custard tart
-1 litre of live yogurt
And I still have plenty of eggs going spare
Today I shall mostly be recovering and drooling over my monthly shopping list!
See ya later peeps-enjoy your day

Afternoon, bit late logging on, I've been sitting in the greenhouse cos it's much warmer than the house
The vine is telling me that there were no new posts, when there's loads of'em. What's that all about?
Right, kettles boiled for coffee, so I'm heading back outside...
Afternoon. Weather’s lovely so back out in the garden to try and finish levelling the soil. So far all I’ve done is dig up a humongous root. Of what I know not. Indoors for a rest and a cuppa and put a stew on for later.

Afternoon All. Site is playing up for me too Thelma and it's also painfully slow. It's having a bad day, lol.
I'm in the middle of putting up a new plastic shed but I've stopped for a tea break. It has more screws and metal profiles than a metal profile warehouse! I've decided I no longer want the upkeep of a wooden shed so I'm hoping this will be a good alternative. I've got loads of sealant lol, how bad can it be?
Sun is out thankfully so at least it's a proactive kinda day.
Hope you are all having a good day, off for a quick read round now before I head back outside.
Afternoon all. (Starting to sound like Dixon of Dock Green)
Sunday at noon appears to be a good time to do the weekly shop!.I went to three shops, none of which had any queues (in fact it was quite pleasant browsing the shops without bumping into people)
Called at allotment on way home solely to water stuff that needed it.
Prepared the Sunday dinner veg and meat before I left and was looking forward to it when I got home. Unfortunately OH had fallen asleep when I was out so hadn't switched on the cooker.
Not to worry, all cooked and eaten now, and jolly nice it was too.
I would like to get some onion sets planted and some brassicas sown at the plot tomorrow depending on what the weather decides to do.
Take care folks!.

Good evening it has been another lovely day again, though it did start off a bit on the cool side, but it did heat up quite a bit by 2 with the doors and 6 windows wide open the temperatures in the greenhouse was at29c, I cut the grass along with several large cardboard boxes which are now all in the compost bin and then had a lazy day though our daughter brought us milk and half a dozen potted plants along with some pots for me to plant up for her though she said she's not in a rush for them well keep safe, keep happy and smile
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers
been a lovely day here but a chill in the breeze. Greenhouses in danger of overheating. Crazy weather.
spent a while pricking out african marigolds. They are going to be the main display in our beds at home this year. Would usually have relied on asters and antirrhinums bought in but local garden centres not available. . Heading for the plot tomorrow. Intend getting the early spuds in and oads of onion plants as well. Fingers crossed I'll get it all done /
