^Yes. Sounds amazing and like something Henry VIII would have had! Edited to add: that's Nicos's dish, not the baked beans...

Not sure what else we need to buy. I've got a lot of unopened bottles leftover from the birthday do. Mr Snoop says he fancies salmon, broccoli and sprouts. There's broccoli in the garden and some nice pieces of salmon in the freezer. Cake or pud can be knocked up from whatever we have in store. Goodness, I could probably go all posh and even make some vol-au-vents or mini soufflés! Might have a go at making some of those more-ish Swedish spicy biscuits that Lidl used to sell. Got local walnuts and almonds for nibbles. So all in all, as my sprouts are minuscule, that's probably all we 'need' to buy. That and a bag of dog biscuits.

Mind you, we've been invited out on Christmas Eve, and Boxing Day is a working day here and we have to go out because I have a hospital appointment of all things! So we can top up for New Year then. And because we'll be in our nearest 'metropolis' (population 15,000), we'll be able to do a big shop then just because there are big shops there. No equivalent of yellow stickers, for sure, though, as the big day of the festive season is 6 January here.

No big shop here either,we only eat what we WILL enjoy, not what is classed as traditional, chicken breasts with home grown veg will do great, spuds, parsnip, carrot, onion, toms, beetroot,a slow roast will do the job, plus a nice gravy made in the roasting dish with all thr flavours,i have noticed that when a shop is closing for 1day,a lot of these youngsters go mad filling up trollies, few years ago,it was plan ahead, not rely on an open shop,it was much better,

I'm doing haunch of venison wrapped in bacon ( my brother gifted me three!! So my freezer is full) stuffed with pear and rosemary stuffing ( both home grown) but all my sausages are bought in....and we have a "boy" heavy family so we get through a few!

We actually did our big shop today.
I will be having family for Christmas dinner and also some more on St. Steven's day.
I won my Turkey earlier in the year 0laying pitch and putt so will collect that from the butcher on Monday evening.
A large fillet of ham, extra cream for the pudding and Irish coffee.
Fizz as it is our wedding anniversary and strawberries and cream to go with it.
We will have Baileys to make some coffees.
Mixed cheese board with black and green grapes to nibble on.
And of course all the usual trimmingsl

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Nipped into both Montrose and Arbroath to get a few things we need, folks were in overdrive, some families with two trolleys, madness. We got some milk and bread and fresh stuff for the next few days, some shops only close for one day, makes you wonder about the waste that seems inevitable.

I went shopping on Friday & I bought myself a cheeseboard with four cheeses because why not it’s Christmas,I never usually buy that or a bottle of Malibu but I was adding nice things that I don’t usually buy & was looking at all the food thinking yes treat yourself a lot. I also bought two boxes of tissues,I usually buy one but by buying two it’ll last longer & I won’t need to go shopping so soon. A lot of people must do that, even though the shops shut for one day I don’t want to go shopping for as long as I can.
