I've had this year's first proper radish crop today. I've eaten the roots already (craving fresh veggies, I couldn't resist for long), and will have the greens wilted for tea probably into pasta, and with some wilted dandelions as well).

The Judas tree/bush has finally managed to put on a show of flowers not just the one or two like it has done for the last few years.Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet

Spent the night on zoom with my family chatting and quizzing.
Great to meet up, even virtually.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

We ate the last two potatoes from last years crop (wiljas) last night but I have had a furtle in the greenhouse border and there is hope. The first earlies (swift) in there have actually got potatoes on. They were planted on the 7th March (7 weeks ago) but were well chitted when they went in. How long can I wait before I put a spade in?

Blackbird over the valley giving it gyp.
Cuckoo also over the valley.
Acequia (rainwater drainage channel) has been running for weeks now. Lovely to hear, like having a stream right by the house. Especially nice when I'm outside in the veg patch. I'll miss it when it dries up, though I won't miss the lakes in the floor of the valley.
This site being back up and running. But definitely don't like friends being divided.Last edited by Snoop Puss; 29-04-2020, 07:58 AM.
