  • Mobile phones?

Mobile phones to me are the scourge of the 21st century?
Everyone you see seems to be wandering around with there hand to there lughole!
And what's everyone's views on flaming 'text talk'?

Whatever happened to the 'frying your brain scenario' btw?

Technology is neutral - people are the scourge. A woman driving on her own at night being followed by another car in a way to suggest she may be in danger would not agree with you.

As someone once said about weapons, "guns don't kill people, people kill people".

After years of research I reckon the most common opening question when ringing a mobile is....."Where are you?" because the first thing out of the receipients mouth always seems to be...on the bus / train etc etc

I annoy my OH because I turn my mobile off when I want to do something interesting, like gardening... I don't like being contactable 24/7, I like to unplug from the system

Just as we have NO SMOKING zones we should have NO MOBILE PHONES zones in public places! Who the heck wants to listen to other peoples boring ringtones and conversations?

We could have 'Phone police' carrying a bucket of water to drop the offending contraptions into, or some sort of portable mincing machine!

Snadge, you can buy a gadget that you 'zap' at the mobile, and it gives the user a mild electric shock ...

I want one!! Seriously, though - we used to manage perfectly well with landlines and payphones. Who on earth wants or needs to be contactable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Except me when I'm on call for work and then it's needs not wants.

The thing that gets up my nose is the people who get up petitions against mobile phone masts when they own a mobile themselves.
If we all did that we would have no network!
Ps I only spend about £15 a year on my mobile.

Me too BW, I don't use mine much but I'd rather have one if I break down on a dark night than not

The person who put the "speaker phone" function onto the mp3 music playing phone should be made to listen to an endless loop of a Harrisson Bertwhistle composition.

Kids and teenagers wandering along or sat in a bus/train/waiting-area with their favourite track(s) blaring out.

                        Fifth rate rubbish.

I sat through a BBC World Premier at the Proms once, wondered before why I was sharing the Royal Albert Hall with a dozen other promenaders.

About five minutes into the work I realised why.

Life wasn't quite so bad when mobile phones were used to make and receive phone calls and nothing else.

You can't watch anything anywhere these days without a dozen walking pimples pointing their bl**dy phones at it filming and photographing.
