  • That's one thing I've noticed …. now I'm not going to the corner shop for a daily paper, I'm not tempted to pick up a chocolate bar or cream cake now and again and my waistline is back haha!

        • My local garden centre is closing too. Wonder whether there'll be any bargains when this is all over?

              • Great news on the ginger, it would seem, then. Mr Snoop will be pleased.

                Edited to add: thanks, guys.

                • I am quite worried about 'Lockdown' affecting my veg gardening.

We'll just have to see what Boris has in store

                  • Me and Bob both have mild cold like symptoms so we are on lock down. Very much doubt it’s anything deadly, but have no intention of endangering anyone else.

Could that not be classified as your daily exercise? As long as everyone isn’t at the allotment at the same time.

                        • I hope we can still go

I'm gonna need some compost soon. Gonna have to hope I strike lucky at the supermarket

                          • Lidl still had compost when I was last there, but I suspect the supermarkets may be prioritising deliveries of food and essentials, so may not get more stock in. Last time I was in Lidl they appeared to be removing their middle aisles, presumably to replace them with food.

I am thinking about contacting my lettings agents to see if my landlord might let me dig up some of the lawn, given the circumstances. I suspect it's not good soil, but I could stick in more seed potatoes that way than I could grow in pots, so the yield would probably be the same or better and I could keep my compost for other things. It's a very patchy lawn anyway, so not like I'd be destroying a pristine well kept bowling green!

I am going to be having a lot of contact with people with COVID19 in the coming days and weeks, and I desperately want to be able to socially distance and not go to the supermarkets any more than I absolutely have to. I don't want to spread it during an asymptomatic stage or cause any harm to anyone.

                            • Marshalls offer free delivery for compost if that helps? https://marshallsgarden.com/collecti...urpose-compost
                              Other suppliers are available.
