  • poetry reading

I've discovered soundcloud today - yes I'm probably very backward - not on my own 'cos I don't do any social media, but from a link on the news.

Anyway, Sam West (son of Tim West and Pru Scales) has a page where he and his friends have started reading poetry to raise our spirits in these difficult times.

I love listening to poetry well read and this is a real treat, so any poetry fans on the vine may enjoy the poems too.

    The Mower by Philip Larkin

The mower stalled, twice; kneeling, I found
A hedgehog jammed up against the blades,
Killed. It had been in the long grass.

I had seen it before, and even fed it, once.
Now I had mauled its unobtrusive world
    Unmendably. Burial was no help:

Next morning I got up and it did not.
The first day after a death, the new absence
Is always the same; we should be careful

Of each other, we should be kind
    While there is still time.

Matt Lucas has also just read a poem by Philip Larkin - but I won't put the words here for fear of being banned https://www.facebook.com/Chris4Rhond...2441902779683/
