While in the greenhouse today I was going to pot on some dahlia seedlings but the plug trays I have are too small and I have no suitable sized pots so I was thinking that I would need to make up some paper pots 40 in total and I am not the most patient person when it comes to doing jobs like that, but I started preparing for doing it, while i was preparing I moved a pot try that I have sown turnip in and I realised that there was a simpler way to get pots, I have a try that held 40 2in. pots so I put some paper into each pot space then pressed it down with the paper pot maker, so instead of it taking about 1hr. I was finished in 10min. and the original idea came from reading a thread posted by Small pumpkin, so many thanks Sp you saved me from a bit of boredom

When I joined the vine I learnt so much I was amazed. I had hit a point where I didn't pick much up from programmes and magazines and the best thing is most of the stuff learnt was tailored to me.
Rooting tomato armpits (never actually done it but it was never something I even considered and it is an option if I need it)
Grafting (okay not so much a tip, but I always thought is was some really difficult scary specialist thing and thanks to grapes they taught me how and saw me through)
Cardboard (mulch everything)
Min max thermometer (didn't realise just how handy they were till I joined the vine same as bayliss autovent)
There are way more than 6 seed suppliers
Seed swapping is fantastic
Debris netting (who knew how fantastic this is until they joined the vine especially over some blue pipe and the colour of the net can make a difference)
Polycarb (it is perfect for the bendy bits on the greenhouse and it can have some canes across if it is prone to wind issues)
Red christmas bead decorations are good bird deterrents and save your berry crop.
Morrisons flower buckets
Homemade salad dressing in water sprayed on peach trees to prevent leaf curl
Tomatoes can get sun burnt
Never eat a bitter squash
If you cut across a fruit tree it can help with canker as the scar is resistant to infection
There is such a thing as storage/ winter toms
Lime and how to plant brassicas
Chilli jelly (couldn't be without this now)
Scarlets brownie recipe (ummm, haven't made that for a while)
Frost dates (so much easier to work things out now)
I am sure there are loads moreLast edited by Norfolkgrey; 05-04-2020, 12:42 PM.

As I have mentioned on another thread the pot tray has turned out to be a bit small for the dahlias but ideal for lobelia and verbena, now I am sorry that I don't have moreit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
