  • If money was no object...

Just wondered, if money was no object what would you do with your life. Would you buy the noisy neighbour's house next door to get rid of them, build your dream house in your dream location, tell the boss what he can do with your job??
Not quite sure what I'd do but thought I'd ask you all as I'm sure there's some great answers to be had.

I would probably do with loads of money what I did with not much. We would probably still have moved to the middle of France, but maybe to a chateau instead of an old farm cottage

I'd buy an old house (do it up if necessary) somewhere in the south or south west of Ireland with loads of land, I'd have all sorts of farm animals and poultry and I'd also run an equestrian centre and dog rescue kennels, and of course I'd dedicate some land to a polytunnel and growing my own veggies and I'd also buy a load of different fruit trees and set up a little orchard. oh and I'd buy myself a nice competition horse lol.

I'd buy a small Island with a house on it then the OH couldn't fall out with the neighbours!

I would build a straw house on 100 or so acres with two water collection resovoirs, a well and a couple of windmills, i would plant half the land with british trees and hedges, and introduce a few native species and the other half i would grow my own veg and have just enough animals for meat and milk and eggs, then i would open up a dormatry style lodge for schools and other intrested people to come and learn. I would also offer jobs and accomodation to people who have been in trouble and need a fresh start away from the usual temptations

Oooh, if money was no object, then we'd be buying an olde worlde place in the countryside, either a farm or castle, setting ourselves up with a great big veg patch, some livestock (pigs, sheep, chooks, ducks, a few cattle), and enjoying ourselves immensely! Plans would have to include ways of minimizing our energy needs and ways to generate green energy and ways to process as much of our waste as possible!

We'd probably also buy a boat to go fishing on, probably based somewhere in wales, and get ourselves certificated for shooting venison, in the hopes we could become as self sufficient as possible with minimal carbon footprint!

I'm sure we'd also indulge ourselves a lot more in our interests, I'd deffo spend plenty of time getting back into Yoga and meditation, we'd both enjoy having more time to post on the vine and to play tabletop wargames, and we'd probably spend a lot of time visiting ancient sites in the uk!

Having the time and money to have a proper holiday would also be something we'd enjoy, tho I still recon we'd go camping at least once or twice a year as well!

Hmm, good point, I'm pretty happy with my life, have a nice house, a wonderful hubby, lovely daughter, reasonably good job that I enjoy, nice car (neccessity when you commute 70+ miles a day), etc.

                  BUT............

I work too many hours (one working day last week was a 16 hour nightmare), spend about an hour a day commuting each way, always find ourselves making do and just managing to get by on the money front, and dont have nearly enough time to devote to the things that we both want to do! Life should be for living, not dashing about trying to fit everything you want to do in and on a limited budget!

I'm not greedy, I dont want tens of millions in the bank, just enough for us to be able to afford the house of our dreams (somewhere remote with enough land to support ourselves and live in an eco friendly manner) and enough for us not to have to worry about money! If needs be I'd continue working, tho would prefer to do something that didnt involve such a big commute every day!

Yes I'm fairly happy with my life, and do understand that compared with many less fortunate we have it pretty good, I'm also not naive enough to think that money would be the answer to all our troubles and am definitely not sat about waiting for a lottery win or big inheritance to drop in our laps to allow us to live thew life we want, but instead we live life to the fullest we can and enjoy it to the utmost, but a bit more cash and a lot more time would be nice!
                  Blessings

                    Suzanne

Two years ago we were the same, then I was made redundant and took early retirement at 56. Couldn't keep up the mortgage in UK so sold up and put the profit with redundancy pay and cash from the pension, all of which was enough to buy a small house in France with an acre of land.

Minimal income now, but wouldn't look back! We are now cash poor but time rich. Ideal.

Sounds nice KK, only another 25 years to retirement for me, and in 20 the mortgage is paid off, so then we could look at doing something similar, until then I fear we are going to have to continue with the daily drudge!

I'd be happy with enough money to get by and enough time to be able to not have to rush, but until that time arrives we'll soldier on and continue enjoying what we do have, especially each other!

I'd ask my OH to stop working, then we could work together on a major environmental project.
                          How fulfilling would that be??

I'd buy some land somewhere like in south america or on an island around there and start my own animal sanctuary (especially big cat's).
