  • Virtual Show - Are we going to talk about it?!

Well, that's it, the entries are in, we've done our best
Bit surprised that no-one has started a thread to talk about it though? Are we afraid of tempting fate?!
I'm really impressed with the entries everyone has come up with, to say we've had such a dire summer. (So glad I don't have to be the judge ) I managed to come up with entries for 3 categories which I'm quite proud of, whether they win anything or not! As our local show was cancelled this year, this is the first time I've entered anything, so it's been good experience.
When d'you think the winners will be announced?

i was impressed with your entry of the lemon chilli's SarzWix, they look fantastic, as i have previously posted somwhere mine were a complete failure (not a single fruit). like you have never entered a show before (but only 2nd year on plot so never had opportunity) and i found it fun to choose what to enter and now i just look at everyone elses entries with a touch of jelousy. long may this virtual show continue

Well I'm chuffed to bits cos I know I've won one category..............bit of a hollow victory though cos I was the only one that entered a Gladioli! To put it into perspective I suppose you could say I was last in that category as well!

As the original proposer for the show I was glad to see it finally took place and think it was a great success. I would have liked to have seen a few fun categories as well, ie scarecrow, weird shaped veg etc, but hey, thats just my individual take, and I didn't have the hassle of organising it.
If it does happen next year, and I hope it does, here's a novel idea, let the grapes themselves, by voting, judge the winner of each category! That way piglet and Jennie can enter without fear of judges being biased! Just a thought! Anyway well done and good luck to all who entered!

As most of the bribes are now in, Jennie and I will be doing our best to meet a consensus on who has won what within the next few days.

With regard to next year, I too hope that it goes ahead and the categories may well be tweaked to include some fun categories. The grapes judging sounds good, hopefully Dave can do something with that and I am sure he can if the prizes are anything to go

Was my bribe of a half hundredweight of courgettes OK?

Hey Snadge, you only just scraped in there. I was going to enter one of mine but yours was already way better than mine so I didn't bother

Everyones enteries were great considering the weather and we all should be very proud of ourselves. After all we are just a bunch of people who want to grow wholesome fruit and veg to feed ourselves. Everyone who entered is a winner whether you get a prise or not.
I know i won't win the wheelbarrow because it will be too hard to package and too expensive to post to Ireland. Also there is the problem of getting an envelope big enough to fit it.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I was really excited to be able to enter two classes. Did grow bigger cucumbers than the ones entered but they were only ready as singles

Haven't had a chance to look at all the entries in the classes I didn't have anything to enter in yet but will do so, have been very impressed with the pics I have spotted.

Well done everyone for trying - looking forward to seeing who wins what!

I can't tell you how much fun I've had with the Virtual show - three cheers for GYO taking the time both to organise the show and the prizes!

And may I ask after the handsome Pigletwillie and the beautiful Jennie? You should both be MUCH better appreciated for the wise and helpful way you mod the Vine (kiss kiss kiss kiss)
