  • Digital Camera?

The cyber show is over and my pics were cr*p!

Can anyone recommend an idiot proof single button digital camera for under 100 quid?

I need an automatic version that adjusts itself to give the best possible picture, taking into consideration light levels, including zooming to the required magnification without having to press nobs and buttons galore!

    Is there such an animal????

Only in your dreams! You do actually need to be able to use a macro for some of the close-ups etc. and take off/put on the flash. They're not hard to use. I'm a girlie and I can do it!

I'll wager that there is just the thing for you, Snadge - although technology is changing all the time, why don't you have a look at the Which reports for budget digi cameras? (and a less lazy grape than I will go to the trouble of giving you a link, I daresay.....)

What the hecks a macro and my camera seems to flash when it feels like it, usually in bright sunshine!

Macro is just the setting for a close-up picture. You shouldn't need it for photos of your veg, I use it more for more for close-ups of insects and flowers.
I'm not really up on digital cameras though, I just use the one on my phone which does the job for me! If I was buying one, I'd be temped to go into an independant camera shop for some advice - people who actually understand whst the camera will do (and can explain it!) rather than your "generic electrical retailer" who knows all about telly's & stereos and nowt about anything else....

But how else in a virtual veg show do you persuade PW and Jennie that your sprout is a cabbage if you don't have a macro setting?

For a "grown up" camera I found the Canon A460 :

                      http://www.warehouseexpress.co.uk/?p...act/Canon.html

But actually I prefer HW's suggestion

I like mine Snadger. Very easy to use and came with sensible instructions. I think it would come into your budget. It's IT Works DC 5347. You might be able to check it out somewhere.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

On a serious note, mine's a Canon IXUS that my wife bought for me as a wedding gift almost three years ago

                          http://www.digicamreview.co.uk/canon...500_review.htm

It's pretty much a point-and-shoot with fairly simple buttons.

I'm sure they do a modernerer version now.

Tesco has some digital cameras on offer under 100
                              http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999764/...ResultSort.y=5
The only problem with the cheap ones is that they all seem to have AA or AAA batteries which run out fairly quickly, I've got a Ricoh R5 now with a lithium battery that lasts a lot longer (I think it was about 130 from Jessops.) I used to have HP Photosmart before which was pretty good also.
Snadger I think the one HeyWayne found is brilliant too, bit pricey at 60 though!
