They all seem to close early these days because of the drunks?............. When I was younger it was the drunks coming out of the boozer at last orders that kept them in business!.....me included!

Yes chippys used to get a lot of custom from people leaving pubs after an evening drinking - mind you there never seemed to be the mindless violence and abuse that happens these days. I used to barmaid at one of the local pubs. We used to phone our order through to the local chippy and Stan would have it waiting when we left work. Part of the deal was that I walked home with his assistant, and we used to eat our supper out of the paper on the way home, and it tasted fabulous. Only bad night was when we left the chippy and walked straight into one of the worst thunderstorms we've ever had here.

Now that everyone has got over their craving for F+C, I have always wondered where the name Marrowfat Peas (mushy peas) came from, seems a strange name for a pea! Can anyone enlighten me?

Does anybody actually eat pickled eggs? The mere thought of it makes me want to goof.
