Oh Mrs D! I knew it but I didn't want to acknowledge it. Summer has been so short this year (I think it was one week late April) but there is a definite nip in the air mornings and evenings so yes, I think you're right. It's definitely autumn and winter is just round the corner. I keep temperature records, and this September was much cooler than last year, and October looks to be going the same way.
We've had a nip in the air up here since June and it's been wet and windy. I think the temp got over 20degC about once... but we're enjoying a lovely Indian summer at last. It's mild (except at night) and quite still. Really lovely in fact!
we had a kamikazi night a few days ago but its gone all mild again now.
Is that when the vee formationed geese dive bomb the polytunnel?
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
About a mile from where I grow my veggies, we have a loch. And on this loch, which isn't all that big there are estimated by those who know (they net, count and ring as many as they can) in excess of 10,000 geese and 750 swans at this time of year. All very pretty in flight, but god forbid they decide to graze your little bit of land. And the noise when they return from their day's grazing is unbelievable.
