This is the trouble with typing to people rather than talking - it is so easy to read ones owns typing the way one would like it to be read - and without any intention, what one has actually typed is just so out of the ballpark! I quite like having friends to type to, such as my friends here, I work from home and my eldest walks to and from school on her own, so I see very few adults with whom I can have a sensible conversation.

It is a personal view - but is there any other?

Seeing lots of adults doesn't necessarily mean that you get a sensible conversation!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I wasn't going to say that!

Lol! I don't see many adults that I can get a reasonable conversation out of either!

At the risk of sounding like some anitquated old biddy, is facebook mainly younger people, or is there room for more middle aged folk too?

I'm on facebook too, I use it to keep in touch with my family & friends all over the country, and overseas - you can share photos, news, message, send virtual cards and flowers etc. All things you can do with other websites/programs but all rolled into one. I've also come across one or two people that I haven't seen since leaving Sunderland in 1986. So, for me it's great - I'm 35, do I class as middle-aged?!
On the other hand, OH (37) can't be bothered with it!!

Now Bebo is for kids! And Myspace. There are actually quite ancient people on facebook -and a load of american students!

Facebook was started in America as a social networking site for college students and it's only "recently" opened up so that anyone can use it - and they mean anyone (no age limits!). It's now more popular in the UK than MySpace (which I never really "understood").

I've been on Bookface for a few months now and think it's fantastic. I've got back in contact with old school friends and college friends, and we've actually met up on a couple of occasions. Like Sarzwix said, it's easy to share photos with friends and keep them up to speed with what you're doing - or not doing, and an easy way to just stay in touch with people in our busy modern world.

People often say to me that if they were "true friends" we'd of stayed in touch, but it's easy to forget that there was once a world without mobile phones and emails, so keeping in touch was a lot more difficult back in the day, when you had to write to people or call them on a land line - especially when moving around Universitys campus/digs...

                                Vive la revolution! I say.

If anyone wants to add me as a "friend" feel free, but please don't ask me to be a Vampire, Werewolf or Pirate!
