Did anyone see that snippet in the paper a couple of weeks ago that said as well as facebook, someone's set up HATEbook, where you can go and publicly announce who your enemies are and do mean things to them online. Is it just me that finds that very sad?

Hazel, from a long career in IT visiting computer users and finding postit notes on vdu's with passwords written on them I have total belief in research which says a large proportion of people use their childrens names or pets names or birth dates as passwords or pin numbers.
One bit of info can lead to another and another.......
's true - and guilty as charged! Funnily enough I tried to rationalise my postit note password hotchpotch on the pinboard this very day.
Bit off topic, I know, but given that I do vary my password, and that I have an account for (from memory):
ebay
paypal
bank (personal)
bank (company)
cr card x2
blogger
msn (hotmail)
skype
GYO grapevine
yahoo
acp (company website update thing)
and about half a dozen others
and I don't want to keep my details all in one place, but they need to be accessable (to me!), I would be interested in your advice regarding security?
we can all get lots off email and usernames, if we can be bothered to look, but got to agree not to use details put on public websites and then using these as passwords etc, we all do it or have done it! just finished a book re - credit card fraud, u wouldn't believe the info etc you can get from checking into a hotel, it's the world today, sad I know. We just have to be on our toes.
FB is also good for 'spying' on younger family members who seem to forget their aunty can see what they're up to hahahaha!!
Know what you mean about security Peter, but my name and address are available to anyone who cares to take the trouble from numerous other sources already, so I dont see FB as being any different. I do keep it private, so I dont get any unsolicited friend requests or the like - and I've so far managed to avoid scrabulous ... but for how long ... Claire???!!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Well, as you've bitten me, thrown water at me and goodness knows what else, I think it's only fair that I challenge you to a game! (I use 'challenge' in it's loosest sense btw, as I'm rubbish! ).
Claire
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
