Maybe I'm being dim but I'm not getting any advertising at all on my screen????? Is this because of some bizarrely clever blocking programme that work have installed or am I just lucky?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I would imagine that when a noob comes on the Vine, they are more inclined to buy the mag, so it's an advert for the magazine, and GYO win there, however I guess that someone has to pay Ben's (and all the other 'techie' staff) wages!

Doctor - I do have the new posts thingymy but it takes me to the beginning of the post and I have to scroll down to the latest message added.
Hazel - thanks for that, I'm about to give it a go!!
And I totally agree, rather have the adverts and keep the vine than not!Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Oh, and for the record I don't mind the ad banner at the top of the page (easily ignorable!) but am not keen on the one under the first post!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

The banner along top has been around for a while hasn't it? I remember the fuss when it came along earlier in the year. But I only noticed the ads under the first post last night too... Not that keen on those ones as they do 'break' the thread a bit, but then again once I get used to them I'm sure it'll be fine . I got used to the ones along the top fairly quickly

Oh god I forgot about Matress Man and his HUGE ad!Last edited by Shortie; 26-10-2007, 04:22 PM.Shortie

I did wonder...oooppps where does this banner come from? Hate me, but I did click on the link to Marshalls to see what new stuffs they're selling currently coz I'm weak .Last edited by veg4681; 26-10-2007, 06:14 PM.Food for Free

has eanyone noticed if you click to go to the last post on a thread it takes a long time to load and also goes via the top add banner before it takes you where you wanted to be.
i'm all for add banners in moderation at the top and bottom of the screen but if the performance of the forum is affected then that could be bad for all concerned.---) CARL (----

I don't like the new ad that has been 'slipped in' under the 1st post. Will the next step be an ad between each post, its obviously easy to set up? I imagine the site admin takes note of traffic stats and will monitor how changes to the site's layout affect traffic. I guess there will be a balance found.
I'm not sure how much a mainly text-based messageboard costs to run, but I imagine a popular one with lots of hits would help subsidize the magazine as well as itself? To see a world in a grain of sand
