I know the ads are a bit of a pain, tho' tolerable, and I see why they are there however, if there is a advert that we feel is 'inappropriate' for any reason, is there any mechanism for putting a complaint in?
I saw one earlier today for a hydroponics systems website which had a name like 'www.topskunkgrowing.co.uk' or similar which seems a bit dubious legally, for a start!
And I'm looking at the 4 ads at the top of the page right now and I have one for Pampers advertising a week by week pregnancy calender, and the other 3 are financial web sites offering a business to business service. All these are at best inappropriate to a Gardening Forum.
I don't mind properly targetted advertising - after all I may want to buy seeds or plants or whatever from Marshalls et all - but I do object to these others.
Spot on, BW - I'm sure that as the ads work on 'key words', there can be some unintential confusion (eg - Gardener Engines that you mention, anything BED related etc etc) and I do know that googleads are pretty sophisticated, it's just if there IS an ad which doesn't 'gel' on our site, is there a mechanism for us to - say - flag it up to admin or a mod?
Thanks for that Hazel. However, before I post I usually re-read 5 times and edit a lot. Used to write what I meant first time, but now the brain won't always work properly.

So we have to be careful what we say then?

What? I'm talking about the banner ads at the top of the page, not what we are posting. Clearly what WE say is already 'kept an eye on' by the moderators, it's non-forum related ads which I think ought to be screened out.

I try to ignore the ads anyway so I don't really have a problem & to be honest I cant remember any ad in particular.

So you're not exactly an ad-writer's dream then Bubblewrap? Nice to know that many people are impervious. And aren't there SO MANY ads on TV that you watch and then wonder what that was all about. Millions of pounds spent on advertising that just doesn't work. Tee hee!
Ah Flummery, but they do make you wonder what they were about, and I suppose some people will actually try to find out - therefore they are working (to some extent). Don't go for the obscure ones myself, but love the current M&S food one!!! Mini chocolate puddings!!! Must be winter if I'm looking for comfort food.

Dream ticket? More a nightmare scenario
A lot of people moan about the T.V. licence fee but fail to realise that each time they buy something that is advertised on a I.T.V channel they are paying towards I.T.V programmes.

I never moan about the licence fee; I am more than happy to pay towards the BBC, which, apart from having advert-free channels, produces some brilliant television, broadcasts great radio, and are outstanding ambassadors for the UK all over the world. And "due to the unique way the BBC is funded.." we all own a little piece of it - we should be proud of it! (Oh, and no, I don't work for the Beeb!!)
