It's odd we celebrate it on the last weekend of October. Probally so people don't think we are just trick or treating.

We took the Green Man and the Sun down and and put them away till the Spring.

Then today took the Boy out to frighten a few clays, in the pouring rain this morning.

We had the Hallowe'en Party, very good it was too. My brother's been saving up all his decorations over the years, so it was a really good do - took them a day to put up all the deccies. We enjoy it much more than Xmas to be honest (I think the dressing up helps
I got into trouble when I had to judge the fancy dress comp, and didn't pick my OH's little girl - oh, the tears!
She was soon consoled when she "won" the next game.
Looking fwd to Bonfire party next weekend, hurrah!

Excellent party last night, got home a bit the worse for wear, took ages to find the doorkey (had the bunch in my hand OK, but couldn't spot the right one). Today was going to go to the lottie and do some more clearing up but it rained (well drizzled). Did go over for an hour this afternoon with middle daughter and the grandchildren. Got one of those galvanized dustbin incinerators, so set fire to that (pre-stacked with dried brambles etc) and managed to get rid of quite a bit of stuff that is not fit for the compost heap. Dock roots and brambles, plus nettle roots and rotting wood that has been on site since I took the lottie over.

Had a great family gathering on Saturday night with all my siblings home for Mum's 60th birthday (on all Souls day). Spent Sunday visiting both my and OH's families, and drove back Sunday night. Yesterday (we've a bank holiday) we shopped for clothes, dealt with teething tantrums and harvested enough peas for dinner. And prayed for the builders to hurry up and at least close in the extension so the plywood wall in the kitchen can come down and we have space to live in and light to see by again (our house has been verrrrry depressing for the past 3 weeks since that wall went up).

Got to work this morning (after a decent swim for a change, and a coffee with a colleague from another building), to find that the building was sulking and refusing to let us past the front door (all the automatic locks were jammed). I was here well over an hour before it was resolved (late because of the swim and coffee) but others had been here 3 hours waiting by that stage. So now cathhing up in between surfing!!

This weekend I will be mostly recovering from the previous weekend when I finished tiling the bathroom floor, re-hung the door as a result, built a new work unit and shelving in the utility room (see attached), redecorated said utility room (see attached again), dug over some beds on the allotment (I now have an unlucky 13 beds on the plot), built Biome one (see previous post), changed the water filter on the fridge, swept up the leaves on the lawn, moved heavy and newly acquired mini greenhouse into the shed awaiting construction in the new year, and some other odds bits and bobs that needed doing.

The result of all that was that my back went ping again - so I've been tirelessly stretching to try and get myself right again.

Seems there's quite a few of us were wed around this time.... Mine and the Lady HW's 3rd anniversary on the 6th.

We have a bowl of sweets for the trick or treaters when they come round - don't really do much other than that - I think being greeted at the door by my goodself is probably quite scarey enough. Especially as I block out most of the light...

My friend is 30 tomorrow and she's having a masquerade ball for it this Saturday - we've all bought steel-boned corsets for it (which will make for an uncomfortable half hour drive!) and I've bought a rather fetching mini top hat (it's only 5 inches round, aww bless!)

My other friend and I have spent the last three nights making everyone's masks for them consequently lol

Will post pics next week if anyone's interested...
