Just to let you know, anyone who's interested, Firstdirect.com have a new Regular Savings account paying 8% gross (6% net).
there's some buts:
I've banked with FD for 4 yrs, never had a problem. You can bank online, by text or phone or in branch of HSBC.
Its a good offer if you can be bothered to set it up - it took me only 10 mins. There's an online calculator to work out how much interest you will earn over the year (I'm going to make £50 in interest, which is my Plot paid for 2 years, good oh)
there's some buts:
- you must be an existing customer (doesn't take long to set up though)
- pay in each month, £25 - £300
- you can't withdraw at all, only close the account
- the account is for one year only
